What kind of business do u think Prince Rupert needs?

My daughter works nights at the 7/11 in the Hood in PG. Scares the shit out of me… my phone rings late at night, I leap out of bed and run and… Oh thank God, it’s a wrong number! Phew!!!
She loves to ‘entertain’ me with tales of crackheads, hookers, stabbings and co-workers pulling a Crocodile Dundee with a machete and screaming “that’s what a fucking knife looks like, get the fuck out of my store”

OC Diner

Yeah, I’ve got some stories too… Talk about a high stress job…

a Denny’s or White Spot in the old DQ could work.

so could a small cramped mexican restaurant with fat $5 burritos, a jukebox that plays jaunty mexican music, free tortilla chips, cheap horchata, maybe a take-out window, and serves mexican hot chocolate.  it’d be like a little vacation in every visit

Ya, our 7/11 is not so quiet! lmao…can be a scary job, and personally that $1.00 (give or take) extra to work the nights for Danger pay (or what they want to call it) is not enough…

try working graveyards for a year across the street from a peeler bar in downtown victoria

I think a indoor paintball course would be a great bussines here. drop in or monthly fees. Change of obstacles every 3 months. I am sure there are some out there who think this is a violent hobby but it might be good training for kids who want to sacrifice their lives the next time the USA want control of a fossil fuel. LOL

I know we had paintball in town at 1 point out in a building by skeena taxi…Would be another good idea I think, I know I would be there

As nice as a paintball place would be, you guys do realize that it takes about $100 an hour running through that till to cover rent, licenses, insurance, heat and lights, incedentals and payroll deductions and wages for just one employee?
None have been successful in bigger towns.

That’s the only original name you could come up with?  HackingTheMainFrame?

How do you figure?

Butcher shop
Dairy Queen drool

How about a private school.

An abundance of empty buildings available cheap.

A community looking to get out of the public system and all it’s crap.

Most certainly some teachers and support staff about to be displaced would be available.

At this time and economic climate, where do you find parents who are willing to pay tuition and uniforms on top of other educational costs to support another private-run school that’s financially sound and up to standard?

Annunciation isn’t any better anyway; Pentecostal Church quit teaching kids years ago.

where do your get your facts that annunciation isn’t any better ? a fortune cookie ? cracker jack box?

it’s proven to be better academically and the kids do well athlettically as well once in high school

The constant change in SD52 have caused my family to consider private school…in our case if was not the costs involved - we would make it work, it was the religious aspect of it.  It is quite possible that another private school could work here…it would take some research into its viability though

LOL.

Maybe you haven’t been in high school long enough to get to know these smurfs well.

Especially eccentric.:stuck_out_tongue: (with apologies)

Wow, I don’t know how I missed this thread!  I have some input for sure!

~As far as Annunciation goes… That crap Fraser Institute test didn’t give it too much better of a rating than the other schools in town, and not having anything else to go on, I’d say that it’s not really a better school…

~Indoor paintball would be cool, but it wouldn’t work.  You’d need someone with a huge winfall to just run it for “fun” and not for profit.  I’m from Nanaimo, and there have been places that have had things like lazer tag and paintball, etc, but most have shut down except for one, (Called Cyber City) and that one has become pretty run down over the years.  The only reason why it has survived as long as it has though, is because it has many, many different things, like an arcade, hampster tubes (that’s what I call them, anyway, but they’re for kids), lazer tag, go carts, paint ball, and also, an A+W in the same building.  But it started out being a really cool place, and they have had to cut back little things here and there as time has gone by, 'cause they can’t afford to keep it running the way they did in the beginning.

~People are saying we don’t need ANOTHER restaurant, but I think the thread starter said s/he is already running a restaurant, so if s/he was to change the atmosphere or theme, then it would just be a DIFFERENT one, not ANOTHER one.

~I don’t think it would be a good idea for the owner of Timmies to change locations and get a drive thru, because I’ve heard rumours of drive-thrus being banned in the near future, due to exhaust from the idling cars.  I have nothing to back this up, 'cause I totally can’t remember where I heard it, but as far as I can remember, it’s going to be Vancouver to start the trend as it delcared itself an “idle free city” or whatever.

~I, personally would love a buffet place!!!  I miss the chinese buffets down south!  I would always load up on the prawns and squid!  YUM!  I also miss cheap, Canadian-ized Mexican food (think Taco-time).

Vancouver is an “Idle Free City” for quite a while and it has been enforced not very often.

Not to mention a new Chevron Triple-O just opened recently (Grandview @ Skeena if you’re wondering), and it has a drive-thru just like the others.

Some renovated McDonald’s restaurants has a two-lane drive-thru. =.=’

Is this in Vancouver?
