Where is this? #18

Ok, historical event took place at place B after a trip from place A.

So… where is place B?

This should be pretty easy, I think, I just want to try the two places at once.

Man, MiG, that’s scary. For a while now, I was actually thinking of posting multiple pictures with a common link the next time it was my turn. You must have intercepted some brain waves!

Was the journey on a watercraft?

I know! I know! Overuse of the “!” reduces its effectiveness!!!

The journey in question, was it kinda like a pilgrimage? ( not only religious but political or philosophical)

Hard one to answer with yes / no, sorry. It could be argued either way. Maybe a more specific question?

Did this journey take place in within the last century?

Was the result of this trip used as an excuse to start a war?

Edited answer: yes. Not an excuse, but a war was started.

Is site B located in a nation which was once part of a larger nation?

Yes, I guess you could say that.

Edit: on further consideration, this is a definite yes.

Is it Sarajevo?

No. Site B is not Sarajevo.

Is site B a railway station?

Oh well, I’m going to guess somewhere around Rethondes, near Compiègne.

Yes.

No.

A silly admission here:

The original photo of the railway station had the name right on top of the building! I blurred it out about an hour after I posted it, and uploaded a new version. Hah! Did anybody save the photo locally?

Nope, but the blurred out name made me fairly sure that it was a railway station.

Did the historical event occur during the second half of the twentieth century?

No.
