Walmart opening in October
Terrace is getting a Winners? Awesome, love their clothing!! I agree with you about Walmart, all I buy there is catfood and my beloved can milk !! I can get some good catfood deals at Dollarama also if they have it in stock !!
Yeah they are getting Winners, it will be the other half of the old Zellers space up there…
it’s all about the cats codybear … I am glad that people can get cheap pet food at either Dollarama or Walmart…

Whiskas is usually the same as it is at Overwaitea on sale. Even cheaper than at Costco.
Don’t feed your pets dollar store crap. Tried that “Truly” brand from Fields - they ate twice as much and shit 15 times as much and were always hungry.

Does anyone out there know the local phone number for Walmart in Prince Rupert. Can’t seem to find it anywhere including 411
Went into Wally World last night and saw visions of Zellers , a couple of guys trying to stick a shirt under their sweaters . Clothing all over the floors , very messy
stations . Parents who can not control their hormons and their little end products , who were running all over the place. I think these kinds of parents should
not be allowed in these stores , shoplifters photos should be made available . But I love George tee-shirts , good luck Wally.
Perhaps the zellers mess was not their fault after all, perhaps it was the class of customers they were attracting.

Regarding the phone number it looks like prince rupert is now located in st catharines ontario.

walmart.ca/canada-estore/sto … tid=144452

Here’s the listed number.

905-646-4566

I never noticed that! Are there no change rooms in the store? Maybe because there aren’t that many clothes to bother? lol Was in there the other night and the store was a mess, clothing and shoes all over the floor etc. which surprised me as there weren’t that many in the store ! Oh well, still like a few items but nothing special !
Did my first walk-around of the new store yesterday and I found the change rooms. You’ll have to look a bit harder.

Update on the phone number for Walmart in Prince Rupert Walmart listed above and they searched and found 250-624-8656 and it is correct.

The change room was actually added following the opening… I notice they are doing better at keeping the store stocked… Dollar Rama is pretty full now too…
I hear many people complaining about the small departments with not much in each… Someone said they are going to Terrace to shop in the 'real walmart" lol…

I love how no matter what Rupert gets. Some of the residents STILL aren’t happy. Find something to bitch about, no matter how tiny, and they will bitch.

Don’t think it’s just rupert though.

I bought a phone in there and it worked, what are you talking about?

Rupertite logic: Doesn’t like the brand new local Wal-Mart; Spend nearly a full tank of fuel for a round trip to Terrace Wal-Mart with the same offering sans McD.

It’s a store, same as other box stores. I did see that prices in general are on the rise and that is a shame. Was told today that the store has no security, all the bells and whistles sounding when someone walks in or out, they can do nothing. People are able to shoplift without worry of being caught unless they are seen on camera. The salespeople are quite pissed. I know it happens everywhere but tough to see nonetheless. Sit in No.1 and listen to some people taking requests for items they can make off with and bragging and laughing at the fun of it all. Geeesh !

useful public info !!!

Considering the size, I think Walmart has done an amazing job of organizing that space and offering as much as they can.

It is a HUGE step above what was offered by Zellers.

I won’t be going to Terrace anymore for just Wal-Mart (never have)…its Terrace’s other stores like Canadian Tire, Wholesale and Winners/SportChek that are enticing.

Until Rupert can counter with stores like this, the bleed of shoppers to Terrace will continue to happen

I echo your thoughts!

We can talk about economics and City hall being ‘open for business’ all we want, but our biggest issue in enticing those bigger chains to locate here is space. We have none! If we could get interest from a Canadian Tire, Sportchek or anything like that, where would they go??

There was that one complex proposed for the old BC hydro site out by the car dealerships, but was to expensive because of all that muskeg to remove.

Any suggestions or ideas on this issue?

A month more or less into it I am curious as to what folks think of our Whally World… I continue to enjoy the grocery department, still find some departments small and limited but all in all I think it’s a huge upgrade from Zellers… Love those $5 George Tees… great deals on cat food, both name brands and store label

Personally i am happy with the store. the prices are good and i do not mind at all going with their own brand name for stuff, its just as good and way cheaper. I also talked with one of their managers and he assured me that the store would evolve to suit the needs of Rupert more in the coming months. like a larger clothing section for example.

I actually haven’t shopped in there to often. Like you “jamesbrown” I am happy with the catfood and related items (litter etc.) but I can also purchase the Shoppers brand for the same price and peanut butter (Kraft) was cheaper in Shoppers also… The price of my beloved Carnation milk increased from $1.33 to $1.67 in just under a week but still cheaper than anywhere else. Other than that, don’t bother too much at all. I liked Zellers, had a nicer clothing dept. and was laid out better, IMO. Wally-Mart sems like a maze to me specifically in the middle of the store. It is sad about the security problem mentioned previously, was aware of that from one of the employees. X-mas season will be a stressful time for them for sure!

I tried to avoid going there, but eventually caved in to lower prices. (oh well!) However, I wonder what the work culture is like there? I see some pretty down faces there and have witnessed employees being pretty snippy with each other. And what’s with that hangout section at the podium near the cashiers? You think they could help out a bit when the lines get long.

Pretty snippy with the customers also. And what’s with the half stocked shelves and you’re right, staff just hanging around chatting. I used to go there for the catfood but I can get the same price at Shoppers normally so really don’t care, one way or the other. I do witness some blatant shopliftng though but the staff say they can’t do anything. I miss Zellers.
