Walmart closed?

Walmart Prince Rupert is temporarily closed?! The store closed yesterday, and it’s closed today as well. Does anyone know what’s going on with the store?

from what I have heard after it was flooded they hired an engineer to look at it and it was told to shut down it is not safe, but if Walmart is not safe then neither should the Dollar Store since it is right below it

Welp now Save On and Safeway will gouge us even more. Safe to say if Walmart isn’t safe… then I doubt other parts in that mail are safe. Rumour has it they really skimped on the rebar when they constructed that mall.

delivery driver told me the manager at WalMart felt her office move

Walmart closed going forward

Another Rumor I heard and it comes from a very reliable source is that 2 engineers gave reports saying that the mall and Walmart are structurally stable and but for some reason Walmart is choosing to keep themselves closed. This is a pretty strong hit for its employees im sure and for the economy.

I don’t know why this isn’t considered a bigger deal

I think for a lot of shoppers in Rupert this is a big deal. Lots of shoppers find Safeway and Saveon too expensive. I heard that The dollar Store in the mall is looking very messy lately( Lots of shoppers maybe looking for deals).

I heard that they may be reopening Aug 9. Who knows for sure.

one supplier who needs to place orders 4 days in advance kept calling them if they needed anything, they told him to stop calling and they will call him when they need anything, so i doubt the Aug 9 opening

Did it reopen? I heard rumours from a former employee in Terrace this summer that ir might not.

I found this recent Northern View article, Still closed.

https://www.thenorthernview.com/local-news/city-of-prince-rupert-issues-statement-on-ongoing-walmart-closure-8248797

our esteem leaders issue a statement saying no updates at this time LOL

Walmart says it’s permanent: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16oijerMwd/

yes CBC just announced it too

According to the US Sun this is the reason it closed.

I don’t know about crime wave, but the shoplifting at the Prince Rupert Walmart was very bad and have you’ve seen the number of smashed out windows at the Royal Bank at the mall ? What in the world is up with that?

Story is BS, just typical of the right wing nutjobs, where does it say that WalMart shut down right after the mall was flooded and the sidewalk collapsed? or they brought in 3 engineers where 2 said it was safe and 1 said it wasn’t? hmmmm no mention of that, the Statement by WalMart on the safety of their employees and customers was alluding to the structure not being safe, period full stop, not about crime. and then to top it off they show the wrong picture of walmart front and fake pictures of crime in another city go figure

Yeah that was a crazy article.
