What is the name of the company?

What is your guess as to whether or not the deal is successful?

Who is your source?
“Seein” how Ajaye is always wrong, do you think we should ‘rail’ him if he is wrong once more. I’m kinda interested as Ajaye has been right on things before.

Besides, all the optimists in Prince Rupert have jumped to erupert.ca. HTMF is a moder day Titanic who hit the negativity iceberg. Abandon ship while you have the chance.
erupert.ca has all the appeal of a chain letter

Heh-heh, I’m curious to hear about this as well. Funny stuff, man!

One more clue RAIL ROAD.

Bill Gates owns 8-10% of CN Rail???

meh.

This is what Ajaye is likely alluding to:

“Mr. Buffett’s occasional bridge partner, Microsoft Corp. chairman and fellow billionaire Bill Gates, is CN’s largest shareholder, with a stake of more than 7 per cent through Cascade Investment LLC. Mr. Gates and his wife, Melinda, also own almost 2 per cent of CN through the charitable Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.” (Globe & Mail Nov 03, 2009).

Hope he’s right … better CN than a proposal where the financial backer is the shadowy “North American Indian Charter of Shipping Inc” … google them and see what you find out … or don’t.

Bill Gates and other wealthy investors from the US…save us!

Never mind assisting the collapsing US economy. This is Prince Rupert we’re talking about. The American public will understand why they haven’t jobs.

I think that American investors are irrelevant to the story … Warren Buffet bought into Burlington Northern Santa Fe while Gates bought CN shares … evidently they both think that rail is a good investment.

If the city is talking to CN, why the mayor’s references to Lax Kwalaams, Metlakatla and Kitkatla in the recent CFTK interview?
“… we hope to in the near future have an announcement regarding Watson Island and the opportunities that it could hold for people not only in Prince Rupert but in Port Edward and Metlakatla, Lax Kwalaams, possibly Kitkatla, it just depends on the variety of uses of that property out there.” Said Mussallem.
If the Mayor’s reference to local bands is just out of courtesy, why the statements “possibly Kitkatla” and it depending on the variety of uses? Does that suggest that there are discussions about “benefits” that certain bands may or may not support or participate in? Apparently last year Lax Kwalaams and Metlakatla met with CN about Watson Island, but then as is well known Lax Kwalaams submitted a proposal in partnership with North American Indian Charter of Shipping.

Aboriginal rights seem to be an issue when any Port issues are discussed, eg Phase 2, Canpotex. Could it be that Ajaye’s comments … probably originating from a civic water cooler or lunch room … have some foundation … expansion by CN seems to make sense … but that the city is trying to bring other interested parties on side?

First nations need to play a key roll inany developent in our area they own the land.

Is it summer there right now? Do they speak English in this country?

Wait, wrong thread, sorry.

Ajaye, battledore has already named CN, as have others over and over again. No need to be secretive about it if it’s true.

Absolutely.
Time for FN to step up and fully contribute; to accept full responsibility for this nations economic engine.

CN has been rumoured for awhile now no secret there, as for the local native bands didn’t port simpson almost sign a deal with the city on the land about a month ago until their members called on the councillors to explain themselves on it?

i’ve always thought a partnership between cn , maher , port authority and grain and coal for a rail terminus and storage yard would be perfect

It has been over 2 wks since rumours were going around about the possible sale. Does anyone know for sure? When does our mystery buyer show themselves?
