Yeah they are New Owners and I am happy for them. Joanne the daughter is a hard
working young lady with plenty of smarts. I wish them all good luck .
ahah It is really tough to discuss a topic on here with people going off on tangents about every little thing that is posted.
True. To get back on topic. I would also like to put in my vote for best restaurant in town. In my opinion Cow Bay Cafe serves the best food in town.
Cow bay cafe is great , good friendly hospitality and exellent hearty soups that the girls make from scratch, not to mention the delicous sandwiches and dlectable coffee’s
do you mean Cowpuccinos…

I believe this is the establishment located immediately to the right of the Atlin Terminal.

Yep, Cow Bay Cafe is located on the water front with a spectacular view of the harbour. Cowpuccinos is located just across the street from Breakers.
Excellent Indian food plus Canadian cuisine is available at the OC Diner (plus great breakfasts: bacon, eggs, toast, and fried potates with coffee for $4.99) but they close at 3pm so that kinda sucks.
OC diner has really good butter chicken and they are very generous with their portions.
I had the butter chicken at Zorba’s a couple months back and found bone shards and pieces of cartilidge thruout the whole dish, when I complained to the waitress she smiled shrugged and took it away and no I did not get a discount. Last time we went there to eat.
On the plus side…they use real chicken…just too bad they seem to pass it thru a blender whole.
I always wondered why the Fort, which at one time was 1/3 East Indian in population never had an Indian restaurant.
For a couple years the monthly event was East Indian dinners at the neighbourhood pub which were always packed. Then the mill re-opened and Gurdev went back to work… a real loss as she was undoubtably the best cook here.

I would have asked to speak to Anton. He likely would have done something about it.
I love Zorbas. Even with their screw ups sometimes.
I ordered the butter chicken on two occassions from Zorba’s and both times it was made with leftover tandoori chicken, as dry as could be and tough as nails and old, very old. It was nasty. I thought the first might have been a mistake…the second i knew they were using leftover food and slapping it out…Anton can’t give a shit if he does not know what is going on. I won’t be giving my money to Zorba’s for a long time.
If some one took the personal risk of opening a cool modern restaurant here, would the community support it, I doubt it, That new place better find a real Chef, or it will be a waste of time.
We don’t need a “cool new” “shiek” “hoppin” “trendy” “up-town”“edgy” resteraunt in town. We need something like a Mr. Mikes. A smaller, comfy White Spot. Somethign with large comfy bench seats, low lighting a decent view. Like Lacucinas meets IHOP meets Boston Pizza.
Another Trendy Resteraunt will fail miserably in this city IMO.
Christ Trendy in this town sucks
give us something worth eating please
Except for Bob on the Rocks and a pizza slice at Atlin Terminal ,I have not ate a meal out in town since June or maybe it’s been longer
The restaurants down town all suck…
I just got home with two large pizzas from Zorbas. I used to like the pizza there. Apparently they have forgotten that pizza needs cheese. Well technically there was cheese but only a skiff. Perhaps the cheese money went to the new colour take out menus. Who is the Anton that a previous poster referred to? No more Zorbas pizza for me. And I thought Panagos tasted like cardboard. I find it a constant challenge to find a restaurant experience in this town that is to my taste. Time to take a break from restaurant food.

Anton is the owner…
Call back and say there was no cheese. You don’t get problems rectified by coming on here or telling friends, you take it back and complain…
I’ve eaten many times at Johnny B’s (Rupert Pub). A lot of their menu is heat and serve (appies, fried food, etc) that is hard to screw up, and is pretty standard pub fare, but I’ve had their steak and spaghetti combo a couple of times and there was nothing wrong with it or the price.
I’ve eaten at Lee & Anns recently and it was quite good. I don’t like that they show up on the health board inspections with "Moderate"s repeatedly…my friends eat there regularly and love it.
I’m still a fan of Prime Time…good mix of different cuisines.

Except for fish and chips at Bob’s on the Rocks and something at Atlin Terminal I have not ate in a restaurant in town since June.
What astounds me is how much better the food and value is in Restaurants outside Rupert… Thankfully I have a friend who is a wonderful cook too
Just not worth the money to eat out in this town…
