I am regularly reminded that we have no impartial/objective news media companies. That is, all media companies have a clear corporate agenda. Today on CBC radio the news reader said that there are only 24 hours before the CN Rail workers will go on strike and damage the Canadian economy. Really? I would love to hear a news outlet announce: In 24 hours the CN Rail workers will face financial hardship as they go on strike. The CN Rail workers are fighting for better wages, benefits, and working conditions. CBC Radio is a corporate puppet.
Well it didnāt happen, they got locked out by CN and didnāt get the choice to strike. By dragging their feet they forced the govt to act, which ir did within hours.
Yessuh corporate Massuh!
My gripe with CBC is that being raised listening to Jack Webster the guests often spout total bullshit and are met with āOh thatās a interesting pointā rather than āIāve never heard such specious tripe!ā.
But youāre correct, notice how ALL media refers to āUnion Bossesā now even though Iāve never heard of anyone else who votes for a Boss.
Also take note on how much money will be ālostā everyday, as if everything they haul is bananas and will go rotten,
Like the shelves are empty, the customers are screaming for them at the door, but they wonāt take those CornFlakes, Spam and washing machines cuz theyāre a couple days late.
The Teamsters intend to strike as of 10:00 AM ET on Monday, August 26, 2024. I was listening to CBC this AM and yet again their lead story was a business owner detailing the devastating costs that they will incur if thereās a strike. No mention of why the teamsters want to strike. Corporate BS advertising masquerading as news.
Yes my buddy didnāt hear the new 72 hour strike notice.
Welcome to our forum, Toby_lake!
So whadday think of Kevin Falconās annoucement?
Follow the GOPās winning is everything, even if you have to abandon all the principles you stood for and kneel before the very guy who kicked you in the nutz.
I guess you can consider that winning if you have no sense of shame at all.
the pussy!
Yeah, that caught me by surprise! Falcon calls it quits and kisses the ring. Haha. Itās probably their only path to victory. I think David E. is going to pull it off. Never liked Falcon much.
Betrayed every voter thatās a free enterprise centrist. And probably illegally too, there was no convention or broad consensus in the Party.
The literal cut off your own nose to āown the libsā as the right wingnuts say.
Unfortunate to live in Rustadās writing. Beat him at the polls here, but he owns Jesusland (Vanderhoof) lock stock and barrel.
he screwed the party first by changing the name, he said liberal was a bad name for the north, but that is where he won the seats, he was horrible, then to do this and not tell the caucus nothing but a fraud., wait that is most politicians, I am a centrist I will not vote for Conservatives with their nutjob views, or the NDP for their leftist views, maybe vote Green or spoil my ballot
Jabber63,
I appreciate and understand your frustration! In the last provincial election I was unhappy with our North Coast MLA and I wanted to vote Green. I donāt think our riding had a Green candidate. I suggest that you do vote in October. Itās the only way to make a difference.
I did vote for Rice in the last provincial election even though I was displeased with her performance. Iāll be voting for Tamara Davidson in October. I could never vote for the Cons.
Iām what I refer to as a Blue Democrat both a former Union Officer and business owner.
Ran the local NDP office in Harcourtās Day, then worked actively on the constituency for Liberal Paul Nettleton for two elections. Even had people wanting to nominate me after that.
But I also profoundly believe in the "politicians are like diapersā and when I started to disagree more and more with policies turned that down and quietly voted NDP again.
Theyāre not yet soiled enough to need changing and as someone sneered at, mocked and served by an unmasked waitress in Vanderhoof during Covid (and from a family of nurses, medical professionals and science/tech specialists, I despise his suckup to antivax dimwits. As a father who lost his only son to the opiod crisis, I despise those like him who want a return to the policies that didnāt work for 100 years and led to that crisis.
And especially as one who was a political activist, his pandering to populism that only the dimmest bulbs in the world think can be solved politically.
Issues Thereās no gain in condemning someone elses approach unless you can tell us a better one,
Plus one of the greatest things I enjoy being Canadian is having an actual choice besides us or them. My family gatherings are a mishmosh of Libs, Tories, Dippers and Greens and we may get loud but we all get along and we all learn from each other.
What happened limited our choice between barely left or even more to the right.
I like that description! I was a union member and union representative for my work site during my last year working in 2014. I sent a small donation to Tamara today. I hope the NDP wins in October. The leader of the Cons is a scarey looking bloke.
Wait a minuteā¦isnāt that a quote about Poilievreās political tactics.
Why look afar when itās happening in front of our faces.
Just a questionā¦not an accusation.
Youāre not wrong, chien22. We have our own home grown Trump-Lite wanna be Hitler youth within our borders. The one saving grace of our PM is that heās a shrewd politician. That is, he wonāt call an election this year(he would be wiped out). Heāll probably dissolve parliament in the Spring of 2025. Hopefully by that time heās had a few political wins. To be clear I dislike the Liberals. I dislike the Cons more. My party, the NDP, is unlikely to ever form government. At least Jagmeet can hold JTās feet to the fire and form some humane policy.
I just received a text from Liz of the Conservative party. She wants to know if she can count on my vote. I deleted her text without replying.
But PP will save us $10 a fill up and only make us pay several hundreds more for birth control and diabetes meds.
Whatās important ya knowā¦
I was actually liking the idea of no provincial income tax on the 1st $50,000 but now I have no choice but to vote NDP again.
Hereās something for Mr Eby:
Keep the BC carbon tax. Promise to devote 1/3 to reducing ICBC rates for everyone, rebate every cent on home/farm heating where gas is the only option and the rest to increasing EV rebates and charging stations.
Same. Iāll be voting for Eby as well. The good thing that the PM has over the leader of the Cons is a bit of charisma. The PM is a terrible leader, but, heās good at running for elections. The leader of the Cons looks like the creepy incel whoās stalking at your local bar.
