Just replaced my 30db radome and $1000 radio on the house with a 22db flatpanel and $60 Bullet5.
http://www.speedtest.net/result/914691024.png <— Premium DSL… all together with digital cable, and my phone, I pay close to $250
http://www.speedtest.net/result/915475562.png <— 5a.m. usually when the net runs the best. as you can see here it’s not running good at all. and the results are shotty, kind of a lie, the little dial never went above 0.09 the entire time it was doing the test then at the last second before it finished it jumped to 0.36.
Can anyone help with this situation? give some tips on how to go about improving service ? who I should talk to at city west, and what I might say, because they seem to have a hand book ready full of reasons why my net is so slow when I call, and some how it never has anything to do with them it’s always on my end.

8:50 Sunday morning
Try our hosted mini-speedtest: maxit.net/speedtest/
Keep in mind it’s hosted on a pretty lame 1GHz Xeon and who knows where it routes to Telus network.

My stepdaughter in Terrace has one of those P.O.S. “free” Telus Lenovos and even worse 2wire wireless routers. Had to reconnect my Macbook about ten times in the hour and a half I used her Internet and it poked along at about 1 Mb - 200K.
Those cheap Lenovo’s are garbage, plus the telus “FREE” wireless pos router is a POS! Everytime i go to install a dvr at a customers house, they have those STUPID Telus wireless router they suck, i always bring a spare telus modem. Just the basic modem with one Ethernet port, then install our cisco firewall’s.
I hate telus, they block port 80 & 21 GRR!!
Shaw blocks nothing until you abuse it a few times.
how can you tell what your internet speed is on dsl or is dsl at a set speed? cause my internets pretty fast for just a dsl modem
Was a little slow at work today
MANDATORY:
- Uninstall all Telus software, smash the disk and tell the customer you’ll come back and slit their throat if they ever try to get another one.
- Uninstall all brand name & third party ‘network managers’, let Windows manage wireless connection.
- Get rid of the useless WEP password that even Telus has no idea what it is and set WPA-PSK password a human can remember.
OPTIONAL:
Throw Telus wireless router modem combo into trash compacter & install a modem and real router
"Oh look Marge, there’s more than one bar sitting on the same table as the router now"

Did number 2, i actually scratch them, and i always remove telus software its GARBAGE 100% useless shit, just like shaw secure.
wpa-2 is best
I think I have one of them pos telus modems , whats a good one ? and can I just plug it in and everything will work ?
Also I do have a prety good router its a DLink Gamers lounge, so I’m pretty sure that the modem is the culprit.

is your modem a square silver one ? If so, then your interenet is slower than what it should be. You have your router plugged into a modem, then it’s probably double natting.
Lost me there man, I have a motorola surf board the junk one and yeah my router is pluged into it duh .
