Greyhound Killer

Exactly!  Your situation is a perfect example of what I’m talking about, bubbasteve735.  A psychiatrist comes in to our town very sporadically, but, the clinician does not live here.  Therefore, treatment options are limited.

In this small town of ours we do have many individuals who suffer from the illness of being Schizophrenic . Then doctors have come to the conclusion that continuous use of strong pot and high end drugs may bring this illness on. So who knows you may have a Mr. Li living next door to you already.

I have to wonder  if anyone’s opinion on here would change had one of their ‘immediate’ family members been the victim?

While I do agree that the ‘mentally ill’ fall through the cracks in society, and that perhaps Mr. Li is mentally ill, it does not make the pain any less for the victims family. We are all so eager to toss in our opinons when we are removed from the situation but I will be honest here, if it were my child or family member that Mr. Li killed, mentally ill or not I would not be advocating for his rights or defending his actions due to mental illness.
It is always different when we are on the opposite side of the fence.

I can personally identify with that conclusion.  When I was a teen I had a friend who experimented with LSD.  She became schizophrenic after her drug use.

My first wife and I were both Junkies for years , I managed to get clean after five years but she continued and eventually got into crack, she is now Schizophrenic and is being treated for her illness . She is also living in a facility with many others.

Well Mr. Li was not dead. Therefore he was not a zombie. Therefore you can pretty much conclude that if he sawed off a guys head with a small knife and ate his guts, he must have been crazy.
Funny how no one else wonders why the driver and a busload of passengers ran away like a bunch of pussies and are held blameless. Their goddam granmas would’ve hammered him to shit with their umbrellas and did something.
"eeeww! they have BOX CUTTERS!!! Run and hide. They’re gonna crash the plane and kill us all, but I’m not risking getting knicked… aaaaiiiiieeeee!!!"
And allowing prisoners to go outside and toss a ball or walk around behind a chainlink fence is pampering?

Proof of devolution.

I understand why you split my comment and moved it. But I was just wondering how we can tell if someone is slipping deeper into craziness, and like bubba said making ourselves aware. I agree herbie you would think someone would have come to his aid  or maybe they all froze, who knows except them. But to keep Li around for further study seems a hard pill to swallow for the family of the victim.

It’s not to keep him around for further study…

We don’t murder murderers in this country. If you want that, go live in the States.

To be aware, you need to do your research. Wikipedia is great. When someone is not right in the head, people know, it doesn’t just happen. It takes alot to diagnose someone, but not alot to know something is off, and to suggest they go talk to a doctor about it. Or even talk to you, maybe you’ll be the sane person they need to kickstart them into wanting to do something about a situation they can’t controll as of yet.

From CBC:

"Manitoba’s Attorney General Andrew Swan said Li’s escorts will not happen until the hospital improves security. Currently, there is not even a fence around the grounds.

Swan did not say whether security upgrades might include constructing a fence, hiring extra staff or other measures.

“Our government will make sure that there are appropriate steps taken to protect public safety before Mr. Li is anywhere other than inside that [locked] forensic unit,” Swan said."

With a fence and some security let the man walk around for 15 minutes a day.

We’re all entitled to sympathize with the family of the victim.
The law isn’t.

Get used to it.

Your suggesting unarmed individuals confront a man with a knife at the back of a Greyhound bus (confined area)? You are aware video games are not real life?  By the time anyone realized what was happening the victim was already dead. The passengers and driver did the right thing by removing themselves as quickly as possible off the bus reducing the possibility of further victims. To suggest the passengers and driver were pussy’s or in someway to blame is, to put it mildly, fucking stupid!!! For any reason!

Notice the sentence is in italic. What does that tell you? =.=

And BTW that quote was taken off from a comment on a CBC web article; written by an American.

I know that, we house them, clothe them, feed them, educate them, and in 15-20 years we set them free with a pension. Are you happy your tax dollars go to this sort of perverted justice,or do you even have a job yet to contribute to the cost’s?.

No.  Mr. Li will do his sentence and at the end of his sentence he will go before a parole board.  His lawyer will request that he be released with conditions.  The request for release will be denied and Mr. Li will return to his institution.  He will never be released.

I hope Li does not get released, I was quoting bubba that said we don’t murder murderers. Do they not have to label him a dangerous offender to hold him indefinitely?.

Yes.  I am quite certain he will be labeled as a dangerous offender and be held for the rest of his days.  Clifford Olson does come up for parole hearings and his requests for parole are denied.

Italics are for emphasis. Nothing to do with quotes. You will notice the next sentence after that is in quotations though. But the sentence with the italics was not…

Perfect example of how literacy is important if you want people to understand what you are communicating.

We all know not everyone write in Oxford English and know the proper usage of italics, bolds, and underlines.

Mind if I be your translator?

Oxford English not required. The use of italics is Elementary school curriculum.

Why would you wish to enable illiteracy?

Elementary school curriculum? Must be quite advanced back in those days…

Isn’t the commonly written and spoken Prince Rupert English based on half broken English?
