They should’ve made his sunglasses slowly tilt up and down automatically.
Photo kind of looks like a cross between Kim Jong Il and Jack Nicholson…
I still think he looks likes Blago
More like Elton John.
Blago and Herb look alike even the hair, well Blago has more hair. Not an insult just my thought.
Blago is an Alfred E. Newman lookalike For you guys too young to know of such a dude, MAD mag ! And Herbie, well, I remain speechless, for a change…
lol yeah, I think “Dollywood” Herb Pond would have been more appropriate for those shades.
and they still haven’t properly fixed that welcome sign? it’s no wonder that noone feels ‘welcome’ here.
I see they fixed the 2 damaged signs near 6th and McBride…
I know it’s vandelism but Herb’s Mug makes me want to go back and damage them again… I won’t but that smurk gets to me… lol
So you’re saying you want to damage them again… You did it the first time? lol
I don’t think that is the welcome sign anymore. They put up a new one. That old one has been used by groups to promote upcoming events, though.
Someone stole Ponds sunglasses from his sign on the highway, damn vandals.
Apparently down in Vancouver I have yet to see a single sign defaced, and about 95% of the signs do not feature candidates’ photo.
But honestly, I sort of think vandalizing election signs is a Rupert-only tradition.
Not really vandalism, more like a dressing game.
Poe Tay Toe, Poe Tah Toe
What do you mean, “apparently,” you have yet to see a sign defaced? Are you leaving room for blackout moments??
First of all, how are Gary supporters hypocrites? Most seem pretty consistent with their views, although I agree with you that demonizing Herb and making Gary out to be a saint is over the top.
And, perhaps you have forgotten, but we did have a Liberal MLA prior to Gary. It didn’t make the big difference you and other proponents of the “let’s-have-someone-in-government” vote are always trumpeting.
The great economic decline in Rupert happened under Bill “I will make sure the mill opens” Belsey’s tenure (with Herb Pond as Mayor).
hotmailDOTcom, you should be careful with your reasoning. The Globe and Mail just released a poll which has the election in a dead heat.
Indeed, a tad premature to have divined as to which government will form the government of the day on May 13…

So before everyone stampedes one way or the other, perhaps wait until just before the election to see where things stand, and then vote according to what you believe in as opposed to what you are told the parties will do for you…
I believe nothing will happen in Prince Rupert without a sitting MLA. Thats very obvious to anyone who knows anything about politics. And really, Globe and Mail Poll aside, the NDP have a small handful of credible canditates. The rest comprise the “equal opportunity” approach that The NDP has built, not “the best possible canditate”. Great, love to see our leaders elected on that platform! Nothing short of laughable.
Coons can rant all he want, he has nothing else to do. After all, his party has neither money, nor power to splash around. Love or hate Herb all you want, but a smart strategic vote would elect Herb, so that he and The Libs CAN splash some money around. Campbell never stops talking about “The Gateway to China”, and “The Northern Corridor”. He believes in it, but hes not going to help Coons position himself any stronger. In summary, no Herb, No money for Rupert.
