Drug Dealer's

narcotics are the biggest problem?

I love that “sexual behaviors” is just below “homicide” in that list.  :astonished:

ya i know but what i had before seemed to bother some people so i put something less offensive?? must be no one has said shit since i changed it.

do you know what i find funny, no what is it you say. well i bet a good portion of the deaths involved in the (All Illicit Drug Use, Direct and Indirect) could be tied into and would be higher(no pun intended) if they really took into account that a good portion of the deaths above it involved the drugs in the first place! i find it hard to believe that this is not the case  if it were the death toll would be #1 and not bottom of the list almost! they say we have a drug epidemic yet there own stats  say different.  but thats just my view.

I’m sure you haven’t supplied anyone before.

Jesus are you living across the street from me? This is not a slagging match. How the hell can you blame the parents for what your kid’s do you can’t be with them 24-7 yes you can only hope you have put them on the right road I’m one of the lucky ones my Kids got the hell out of Rupert got careers and now have kids of there own. As far as you go idiot you need lessons your self you can tell how educated you are by your vocabulary

Jesus may not have the best delivery on his opinions but there is some truth to his message. (omg did I agree with Jesus?) It is somewhat narrow minded to say that the drug dealers are not at fault in any way but I think it is  to prevoke response rather than anything else. I do think most of the responsibility is in education and prevention because drugs are addicted and once a person is addicted it is a difficult task to get that person off drugs or alcohol. Alot more work than prevention in my opinion.

Like the saying goes " you can lead them to water, but you can’t make them drink".  When children decide to experiment in drugs or alcohol, it becomes their choice.  I have witnessed kids who have been raised by parents who are loving and caring and have done everything for their children, but some of them have still decided to try drugs.  Rather than blaming each other, we must try and find solutions to the problem.  I believe that it is all over civic duty to now put the pressure on our local politicians to act now, before the problem gets out of hand once this port and Casino is open for business.  Other communities who do not have the same amenities as Prince Rupert, have created task forces to deal with these issues.  We can all make a difference if we put our heads together…

The last time I checked, dealing drugs and importing drugs for the purpose of trafficking were still under the Criminal Code of Canada. Thus, it would seem rather simple, the dealers and importers should be sent to jail for the full extent of the terms allowed.

No slaps on the wrist or fishing expeditions hoping to get the next French Connection, break the law go to jail…

If gov’t wishes to decriminalize certain drugs, then societywill have to adapt at that time. But in the here and now, providing and/or selling drugs, particularly to young people in schools should be prosecuted to the full extent of our laws.

Parent’s though should not be absolved of all blame, they are your children and you should still watch out for them, if they’re going down a road that isn’t going to do them any good, it’s still your job to do all you can to steer them away from those wrong choices.

In the end, the kids will eventually go to their own destiny, but parents need to make sure that they do all they can to try and sway them to the proper course.

Don’t blame the drug dealers! They wouldn’t be here if there was no demand!

You are absolutely right.  One of the biggest problems parents are faced with is the fact that both mom and dad have to work to pay the bills, and quality time becomes less and less.  We all need to find time for our children and maybe those children who spend time with our kids.  Sit down on a Saturday night and invite your kids friends over and show them that you really care.  I do, and it works!!!1

Well, we’re not talking about consumer products like televisions, DVD players, iPods and such, we’re talking about substances that in many cases consist of toxic poisons that could kill someone rather quickly.

So yeah, I think we can blame the drug dealers.

Though society needs to find a system that will make sure that there is help to get people off of these things, once they truly want to.

But really it would be best to make sure that the kids never get involved in the crap in the first place. Stuff like crystal meth and crack isn’t the simple days of a few joints of grass, that stuff from what I’ve seen is just pure death in a dose…

You tell me that the folks pushing that stuff aren’t trying to commit murder?

And then there is the crime that goes along with drug dealers, I’m talking about young ladies or guys who sell their body’s or do sexual favors to get their dope. Waite until you have a break in in your home or vehicle, and steel your DVD collection, DVD Player, computer and camera’s or stereo  so ya its everybody problem you pay for house insurance or apartment insurance, why is it so high?

you may think it does not efect you but it does.

Nope, we are talking about consumer products, albeit illegal ones.

If there was no demand for the products, there’d be no dealers. If you really want to end the drug problem, you should concentrate on educating people and offering healthy alternatives. If all you do is go after the dealers, then more dealers will come along to fill their place.

Nope, their intent is simply to make a lot of money quickly, by fulfilling a pre-existing demand.

I am right beside Council Watch when he says we must spend more time with our children as well as their friends , Like the news article said a few weeks ago by Myles says we have far too many dealers in this town and not enough law officers , the courts must step up to bat , council must take note , the hospital and every so called caregiver responsible . They have these meeting but the end product sit in some bored room collecting dust and everyone seems happy that they got to socialize again but there ain’t shit being done . We know the dealers call them to task .

as the hard facts show, fat and lazy is by far the biggest problem. it is causing the premature deaths of 75% of the population. in canada illegal drugs kill less that a thousand people. your kid stands to die from being fat much more than a drug o.d. ,  and i know you folks want to ignore that and focus on these scummy druggies but the truth is we use them as scapgoats for all our problems, your kid is much more likely to die at the hands of a drunk driver, or over consumtion of fat and sugar. cigs are right up there too. you parents who give our kids a glass of wine, or a beer and think thats cool, this is quite common. i refuse to bow down to hype, rumor and just outright b.s. i will stick with the true facts, and they sing a different tune as far as this goes.
contrary to whats being said illegal drugs are not the biggest issue we as a society face, its tobacco and fat. all these vending machines full of junk food everywhere, if your concerned of the health of our children why no call to ban the overavailibillity of fat laden foods? ban ciggarettes, the top killer- more addictive than heroin. ill tell you why, because they are a vice for alot of the people pointing the finger at drug dealers, and they refuse to accept that they are setting a poor example for their kids, so they point the finger elsewhere. to see a kid 50 lbs overweight in the ronnies drive through getting their fat fix, ordered by their fat mother/father. giving that kid ronnies is no better than selling him crack, it will bring about the premature death of the kid…ohh but he likes it, and its easy!. make sure he washes it down with a gallon and a half of coke, and some ice cream for later. i agree drugs are harmful and bad, even worse when its kids. selling them to kids is immoral, i dont think anyone would disagree but it needs to be in proper perspective, it isnt the biggest health issue facing the youth, although there certainly enough propaganda to convince you otherwise.
consider all the teenage deaths in prince rupert in the past twenty years, how many of them were drug related, and how many were alcohol related. i know the answer, first one is zero, the next answer is “all of them”. i rest my case. this is why the police dont do more about it, it isnt the biggest problem, it is one of many dangers facing our kids. personally i worry more of mine getting into a car with an impaired driver than being hustled by a crack dealer

Chris:

Although you make some convincing arguments regarding two of the largest killers in both young and old, you have missed the point altogether.  Drugs are a serious problem in our community and will only get worse as time goes on.  Tell me if you have ever witnessed a kid or an adult stealing from their family to support their bad food or cigarette additions?  Drug abuse not only destroys the person who has exposed themselves to it, but they damage everyone else around them.  I will repeat myself - it is our duty as parents to get involved in not only our children’s lives, but we need to make our elected leaders listen to us and start to recognize what the lies ahead for us once the port facility is development.  If you think we are vulnerable now, just wait and see what happens…

i disagree. i know of many instances of kids ripping off the mothers purse for “spending money” , that all goes to corner store junk food, called a sugar rush/buzz. i know of cases of stealing for cig money too, happens all the time. not only that they steal the cigs directly. theft for those items happens all the time, it just isnt viewed in the same light as the theft for narcotics, so it goes largely unnoticed, de nile isnt just a river. how many kids allowance’s tonight will go to fat, sugar and liquor opposed to how many will buy crack? i am in no way defending these piece of shit cracks dealers either, or condoning drug use. it just seems somewhat naive to blame a minority of people for all of societies problems. this idea that the city is plagued with drug dealers is just unfounded.

dude, did you not read his point? drugs affect people around you?  so does being a fat lazy chump. I would imagine that even if my parents were coke fiends I’d still have a chance at being a normal healthy person if I could identify as I went through adolescence and became my own independant person that their lifestyle was fuct and hurting the family.

Fat people feed their kids from day zero, to be fat.  By the time kids are their own people they already have shitty eating habits, diabetes and the social stigma of being fat that is the first thing they have to fight to get active and healthy.

I think instead of freaking out about drug dealers, the adults of the community should grab every opportunity to expose young people from all walks of life to AWESOMENESS in the form of FUN, RECREATION, THE OUTDOORS.  That would be more effective than hand wringing about the second oldest job in the books…

Maybe some of you should drive, walk or bike around our community and see for yourselves what is really going on out there - I have, and it scares me.  I hold Myles in high regard for all he has done and continues to do for the youth in our town.  There are far too many kids who hang out on the streets, just waiting for trouble to approach them.  These drug dealers prey on them.  Do you really think that any of them who sell this crap do it!  No, instead they drive around in the best vehicles, wear the designer clothes and have endless amounts of money to spend on themselves.  Someday, this money could be yours…
