when I was in Van last sunday, I went to the bodyshop in the airport and when asked were I was from the owner said that a bodyshop would be opening with the new mall there from what his distributers were saying. he also had a date when the mall should be finished some time late in 2007, or early 2008.
My vote would be for a new Tim Hortons with a drive thru , that’d shave 5 minutes off my drive to Shames this winter.

BTW I really love to see Future Shop in town.
Those are two stores that may do very well here. We don’t really have much selection in the way of shoes and London Drugs could provide us another type of department store with more to offer. I really could see a Tim Horton’s going out there and maybe a Wendy’s or A&W. I also could see Extra Foods re-locating to a bigger and better place seeing as the mall is dying a slow death. Extra Foods/Wholesale Clubs seem to be common with this developer.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
As sucky as Payless shoes are, we seriously need another shoe store in town. There is no where to get casual or dress shoes in this town anymore.

But late 2007 completion date? That’s kind of a bit late, especially since Terrace’s Wal-mart was erected in half a year or so. If council/Ministry of Transportation approves this and construction begins Feb., would it be plausible for the complex to finish by late 2006/early 2007?

Exactly. Most of the time, you get what you pay for. I should start counting how many times I hear in a week “I want a good pair of shoes for under $30.” Which is usually followed by a combination of the following… “they have to be great quality, with good cushioning, waterproof, have good grips, and fit wide feet.” For under $30, you’re lucky if you can get one of those things, if any of them at all.
When I tell people they’ll be looking for a while to get anything that falls into those categories for under $30, they don’t believe me, and tell me there has to be some. I’ll tell them to check out Zellers or the Bargain Shop, as those are probably the only other places (now that Saans is gone) that you’d find shoes for under $30. I’d say about 80% of the time, those people will come back a month later to buy a pair of shoes because their “Zellers Specials” have already bought the farm.
Oh, and Uptown Shoes, unless they can get some decent priced shoes more people can wear, won’t last 5 years. I get to hear people complain about there too. Weeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Hey, I got two pairs of shoes from Payless, on one of their specials, for about $60-70 total, two years ago and they both are still fine, although one is a pair of dress shoes that I only use at weddings or such events, so they’ll last forever.
That said, if you want a good pair of running shoes, at a reasonable price, BATA is a good place. And, when you catch Smartass on a good day, she’s actually quite helpful!

The lot that Walmart was built on in terrace, was completely logged, and leveled years before the contruction began. Thats easily a years worth of work.

You forgot Dept of Fisheries approval too. There are some creeks back in there that have fish in them.
Yeah, I try to help out as much as possible, but this whole being the boss thing isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I enjoyed my job much more when I was just doing half of the boss’s job and not getting paid for it.

I dont know if its the same there as it is in kelowna but I am not a “G Unit” and I dont play basketball so they have no shoes for me here… seriously

We do have things other than wannabe gangsta clothes and basketball shoes. We have lots of mid-range skate shoes like Vans, casual boots and shoes by Lugz, and cross-trainers and running shoes too. This time of year though… we do have tons of basketball shoes because of the Qualifying Tournament.
Whenever it opens, I foresee dark and strange things happening there. It won’t be until years later that they discover . . . the mall was built on an ancient Indian burial ground!
