Hey guys, there really needs to be more people stepping forward and opening their homes for the athletes coming to Rupert in a month. Go read the article under the Northern View heading down at the bottom of the main page and go sign up to be a billet! (I did!)

I know I few people who be more than willing to billet…however - the main issue I’m hearing about with regard to not volunteer is transportation. As I uderstand it the household is responsible for providing transportation to and from events, this is impossible for some people with jobs/kids/other activities, so they are not stepping forward.
transportation in this town ? if an “athlete” cant walk any where in this town or have a volunteer that drives people is rediculous. sure its neat to have this event here but trying to guilt the community to let strangers in your house is absurd. they are saying they are athletes they are responsible and you can trust them.
I do believe there is a shuttle service being provided. I had the same concern about transporting them back & forth, but was assured it wouldn’t be a problem
Yeah, when Glenn Hauptman spoke at our Rotary Club he indicated that there would be a shuttle service to pick up the athletes in the morning and drop them off after the event if needed or so desired.
Thanks for the correction - I’ll be sure to clear that up with people, and hopefully they will now volunteer
