Who in Prince Rupert wants to purchase the Albion ferry?

They’re heralding the arrival of a brand new bridge in Vancouver on Tuesday, as the Golden Ears Bridge opens to traffic, a long awaited link between the southern shore of the Fraser River and the metropolitan Vancouver area.

According to the CBC the interested buyer locally is none other than the City of Prince Rupert. I understood from some comments from the Mayor that the City was hoping to get out of the ferry business if at all possible.

Interesting, if true. Guess things are pretty good financially here we can write off money for CityWest, buy a new ferry for a million bucks or so and still find time to raise the taxes yet again.

Wonder when exactly they were going to share the details of the possible purchase with us, then again, with the trend of closed door meetings at council we may never have found until we were riding on the thing.

Maybe we should put a bid in for the fast cats too while we’re at it! :imp:

Yes, indeed, difficult to decipher where the ship of state that is the City of Prince Rupert is heading these days with Captain Jack as the skipper. Perhaps in due course the pilot house door will creak open and some new bearings will be announced to all who are aboard. I am not sure that an expenditure on this item will elicit a rousing cheer for the Captain from below decks.

The CBC report specifically mentioned the Albion ferry as a possible replacement for the airport ferry.
