VOTING: Who Are You Going to Vote For in Our Region?

Great points, BTravenn

The elimination of the senate would be a great thing. Those people make 200K+ a year and work less than 100 days a year. Do we really need to pay someone that much money for a job anyone could do. The senate doesn’t add anythnig to Canada imo.

Agreed.

The Senate was created for a very good reason, to be the arena of sober second thought. Without the Senate some very onerous legislation would have truly made Canada a corporate/police state, and allowed the religious right to exert undue influence in our government.

Everyone needs payola to keep them on the straight and narrow - why should the Senate be any different. We pay these people top-dollar to not compromise our government and allow undue influence from sources dictated by any other entities other than the crooked folks already in charge. Hey at least we know which crooks are in power!

Anyone seen the latest news from the NDP?

NDP platform pledges ‘immediate action’
• Hiring more doctors and nurses.
• Working with the provinces to strengthen the pension systems, with the eventual goal of doubling benefits.
• Giving small businesses a tax cut and introducing targeted job-creation tax credits.
• Capping credit card fees at prime plus 5 per cent, while taking federal sales tax off home heating.
• Working to “fix” Ottawa to stop scandals and encourage co-operation between parties.
The NDP is always good for a laugh!

It seems like Nathan Cullen will keep his job:

But according to this website, we might see a majority Harper Government 3:

If Harper is elected back we all might as well move to China. Jesus f***.

Harper will be back. There can’t be any serious doubt of that. The question is whether he will win a slim majority because the centre-left is so fractured between Liberal, NDP and Green, while the right has held together an effective coalition of former Reformers and PCs.
