Visiting restrictions in place as gastrointestinal illness hits hospital

Northern Health has put visiting restriction and increased infection control measures in place after a breakout of gastrointestinal illness at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital.

The outbreak began on May 26, and since that time two patients in the extended care unit, two patients in the patient care unit and nine staff members have been affected by the illness. Samples from those infected are now being tested by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.

That’s a crappy situation  excuse the pun. On another point, you are advised to remain at home 48 hours after your last symptom appears. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with hot water and soap. I tell my kids to sing twinkle twinkle little star!  Apparently it maybe the Norwalk Virus.  Yukkie bug/
