Time signal

I’ve tried asking at CityWest a few times but no-one seems to know. It’s my understanding there should be a time signal on cable to auto-set the time. It was available on Channel 9, but when CityWest bought Monarch it disappeared. Anyone?

you must be talking about analog cause digital keeps its own time perfect

And you would be wrong, I’m talking digital.

well then elaborate on what you are talking about with the time . i have 3 digital receivers and never had an issue with them keeping time. i also have a wife who works at citywest who wonders what you are talking about

On my pvr and on my tv there are auto and manual setup for setting time. With auto it asks for a channel number for the time signal. That channel was Channel 9. I know I haven’t elaborated much but that is the problem.

It seems the analog system is gone. http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/may2007/tc20070521_573063.htm

What is the alternative?

The TV has both analog and digital time setup.

again ive never had a problem with my time being the same as my cell phone and pc. so i dont see the reasoning behind what you need to do . looked my menus as well. maybe you are looking for something that isnt there anymore

If I have a digital time setup, why can’t I use it? How does your equipment get this time setting signal. Can you be more clear how your equipment sets its time?

i have the dct3416  pvr my menu does not look like you must have a newer reciever. i do know i have the same receiver as my mom who lives in victoria and has shaw cable. the receivers citywest buys are a generic one that other companies use also. and not all functions are usable like the usb ports you see on them. and a few other ports.

To set the TV just plug your cable into the back of the TV skipping the reciever. Set as always then plug the reciver back on.

Might as well set it manually.

yup.
