The way the music died

Slashdot reported today about a new Frontline documentary called
"The Way the Music Died". Can be watched on-line tomorrow (May 29), visit

for more information, but basically it’s about the hurting music industry.
The Slashdot piece also pointed the reader towards an interview with David Crosby. He states “It [the music industry] changed from being about the music to being about what you look like.” (brackets mine)

It should really be called “The Way the Commercial Exploitation of Music Died.”

No, that’s not what it should be called. What you’re saying is that the commercial exploitation of music died, but it hasn’t. The music died BECAUSE of commercial exploitation.

It should be called, “Music can never die,” because the concept of music lives on, despite the bleak popular scene.
