The Pond/Coons match

The point is that the local BC Liberals will rewrite Prince Rupert history as well, to make it seem that Herb Pond actually lowered taxes, or that the economy of Prince Rupert prospered under his watchful eye while on trips to China.[/quote]

That might be a tactic that you might use, but I think you’ll find that Herb Pond and the BCL have a bit more integrity than that. You can disagree with their politics, but don’t demonize them.

Herb Pond has never denied the fact that he and his Councils raised taxes a few times, and that’s because he stands by and is accountable for those decisions. His argument was, and I assume will remain, that raising taxes was necessary to strengthen a seriously weakened organization that was the City of Prince Rupert. If it was, as some would suggest, not necessary, then I imagine that Mayor Musselem and the new Councillors will attempt to lower taxes in the coming months.

Every party in power has wasted money and broken most/all of their campaign promises. So why do we keep electing the same political entities? I say screw Herb and Gary as they are mainstream, vote Green. Maybe they might make us feel better while we are getting … I do know the Liberals are putting us in deep debt now and that the NDP have done the same. It’s only world economic forces and luck that make the mainstream look good. Common sense usually doesn’t prevail in politics.
I do have a small glimmer of hope for Obama when he rhetorisizes (word?) working together.
