When it rains, it pours in politics. The NDP just terminated their agreement with Liberals.

I’ll bet JT quickly caves and gives Jagmeet what he wants. JT is toast if he goes to the polls now.
But two centre or left of centre parties (Liberals,NDP) with clearly articulated policies might be more dynamic running against the sloganeering, and name calling of P.P. and the cons…although PP’s hair is looking much nicer.
It could be an interesting opening move on behalf of the NDP.
Unfortunately the Cons lead the Libs by 20 points. If the election is called PP will be the new PM. The best move for JT will be to give Jagmeet what he wants and try to live to fight another day.
And I’m going to correct you over buying the bait that the federal liberals are left at all. They;ve defined the center for decades.
The propaganda of the fascists that hijacked the conservative movement in N America have brainwashed people so much if you described the policies of Joe Clark, Robert Stanfield or Brian Mulroney they’d label them as ‘extreme leftists’.
As for the NDP… bahhh! A mere shadow remnant of leftism. Dave Barrett and Ed Broadbent could claim they were, but Jack Layton was yogurt compared to their butter and Singh is 2% milk.
Absolutely! The Libs are indeed centrist somewhat akin to the American Democratic party. I’m glad that I never voted for JT. I remember when JT clobbered Harper in 2015 by running on a very much left of center platform. After getting in office he used billions of tax payer dollars to buy a frickin pipeline. That was never mentioned during the elction campaign. Haha.
On my behalf…a poorly worded sentence. Liberals are definitely centre with a shade of rightism…NDP have moderated their message from days of yore but still have more humane policies. Then there’s the Cons trying to ‘renew the promise of Canada’ or in Americaspeak ‘make Canada great again’.
For me the current question is do we vote based on personalities, polls, past histories, or articulated policies?
None of the options presents a clear alternative.
I’ll be voting primarily based on past histories and policies. Harper and the Cons were thoroughly thrashed by JT in 2015 because of their policies. JT campaigned like he was a real socialist. The Cons raised the retirement age to 67. JT lowered it back to 65 again. Boomers like me helped to vote the Cons out. I’m not a fan of JT, but, I prefer a very uneasy alliance between JT and Jagmeet to the wannabe Trump-lite twits.
And now the Bloc has indicated they want him to boost pensions!
OMG the commies think all us entitled freeloaders should be able to eat and pay rent like real people!
Bought a dollar store punch to poke a few more holes in the belt to tighten it more if PP wins next year.
Yeah exactly! I was speaking to a friendly cashier in Safeway who’s planning to retire Feb./25. She was saying how terrible JT is. She gets paid dirt wages. What do working stiffs think they’ll get if Trump-lite gets elected?
It’s amazing how no matter who you ask, they can’t come up wit a rational reason they dislike Trudeau.
Most don’t even know what a govt can and can’t do FFS. Or who sent those rebate cheques to pensioners & low incomes. Many actually think they’ll get more rebates and rants out of Conservatives, showing they don’t even know their basic Tory ideology.
I don’t dislike him. But I’ll never vote Liberal.

So fuck Trudeau, yeah. But not for the usual reasons.
Your alternative(s) or is there one?
We have a new candidate for the NDP here in RupertLand; she’s running to be our new MLA. I’ll be voting early for Tamara D. on October 10th. I’ll be voting for Taylor B. when the next Federal election happens.
Sankey just knocked on my door. I wished him well and let him know that I’m voting NDP.
I wasn’t so nice to Rustad’s flunky, Gave them a dozen reasons as they walked away.
Looks like Taylor’s got my vote too when the time finally comes.
Same for me here. I’m voting for Taylor.
I’ll be curious to see if the calls for JT to leave grow in strength.
JT is still the PM and he’s let his party know that they can pound sand. He’s staying on. PP would love an election right now because he’d clean up. Things are heating up, I’m getting lots of political fund raising emails.
