I drink becuase I like it and it’s fun. I don’t do drugs becuase I don’t like them, they scare me, they’re too intense for me. The basic 4 elements in my life are school, work (only in the summer though), sports, and parties. I do other things besides what is listed though too. And this year in september I f’d up my knee so there went my volleyball, snowboarding, and soccer seasons (the whole year of sports), so all I had left was school and partying. Since there were no weekends taken up by sports anymore (which would have been pretty much from september to may), I was able to party more. So that’s why every weekend I have posted party pictures, instead of what might have been sports trip pictures and whatnot. My friends and I just enjoy letting loose and having a good time on the weekends, we usually don’t get too out of hand, and manage to stay safe.
How were we feeling this morning Eso? Congrats on getting your team to show up this morning… Commercial and the Moby didn’t even bother showing up for their first games today.
Forgive my ignorance if I repeat things that have been states, I just didn’t feel like reading everything that was posted since it was alot of repeating.
First off: Parents should be concerned with what their kids are doing but they must realise that the more they break down on their children the more likely they are to rebel.
Now for the more verbally offensive: Saying that a small town like Prince Rupert is the only place where young people get together to drink is unjust. People do drink in Edmonton and other big cities it is simply just not as publicized on this site (since it is a Prince Rupert site). The fact is you see repeat pictures of kids getting drunk and you see a constant amount because unlike a big city it is possible to walk to every possible party destination without taking up more than an hours time. This creates the opportunity for everyone who is interested in partying to get together unlike in a bigger city where cab fee’s might range up to $20.00.
It simply boils down to the fact that everyone has their own thing they like to do to pass time, some kids choose to get drunk and socialize with their friends, others choose to play DnD in their grandmothers basement. Teen drinking has always been around… it just didn’t come up over night, look at sitcoms and other tv shows. In my opinion it is better that teens learn things at a younger age, its knowledge by trial and error.
Finally, I think you should just stop basing your life on an ‘Oprah’ mentality and talk to your kid, tell him you would prefer him not to drink but at the same time teach him things that he should know when he does choose to rebel.
Okay, I don’t think teen drinking is the end of the world…come on its rupert what is there better to do in this town anyways. Personally I don’t drink, because I have a child. BUT if teens are gonna go out and get smashed, let them take responsiblity for their own actions…makes perfict sense, And you’d think that they were old enough to make their own decistions…jeeze
