Interesting indeed! I wonder if MLA Rice is running?!

I believe I saw last week that Jennifer had indicated she was running.

Thanks for the reply. Iā€™m now in a quandary. I generally like the NDP, but, Iā€™m not that fond of our MLA.

Ridiculous to call an election when there is no need to, especially when Covid cases keep rising.

I suspect that Horganā€™s critics are correct, that is, the election call is a purely political move. Horganā€™s approval rating is high so itā€™s a smart move to go now.

Itā€™s Monday and more than half this town drove 2 hours there and back to shop shoulder to shoulder in the hordes at Walmart and Costco.
I can walk down the street and cast a ballot, not gonna claim itā€™s more dangerous than shopping for socks and toilet paper

Contrary to the general wisdom, I think the premier has seen the coming train wreck.

I donā€™t believe the call to vote is based on his current popularity but an attempt to consolidate his partyā€™s leadership in regard to the coming COVID second wave.

To lead in the near future I believe the next Premier will need both a substantial mandate - and a clear health and safety policy direction should the second wave arrive.

Issues with Site C cost overruns and geological problems, the development of pipelines routes etc oddly take second place when personal and family health issues arise for most. Could be wrong but I think Horgan will try to make it a one issue campaignā€¦who do you trust to lead you to the other side of the pandemic? It will be up to the other parties to open up the field of discussion. Personal attacks may not do it this time.

More than one politician has used the fear of ā€˜disasterā€™ to secure a mandateā€¦you chose me to lead you, now let me!
Of course I could be wrong.

Agreed. If Horgan gets a majority he can ignore the pesky Greens. Interesting days ahead.

OMG Horgan mentioned Fort St. James in a televised speech. Actually said the name!
More than 50 years of Socred/Liberal MLAs have managed to do but hell, no doubt weā€™ll elect one again. After all if you just keep beating your head against the wall, it will eventually fall down.
Driving to and from Terrace over the years. all I can say is the whole boarded up, mills closed Nechako riding has turned into a shithole.

I am very curious to see how British Columbia voters respond to Horganā€™s snap election call. Iā€™m old enough to remember the last time the NDP called a snap election. That didnā€™t end well for Dave. Interesting days ahead.

NDP majority.

Decisive. The Liberals lost 12 seats.

Good Liberal campaign.(/s) Lies about NDP liking tent cities. Waving the tired Law & Odour flag. Stereotypical ā€œtax cutsā€. The usual sexist & homophobe candidate bullshit.
12 seats and the leader gone in a flash.
