Yes, both are real words. “Cannot” is used in more formal writing, such as newspaper reports and essays. “Can’t” is for more casual writing like letters and e-mails to friends.

Speaking of Rollin’ on teh River, of which there were some photos in teh paper today, did anyone read those weird “ads” in the paper, about the Legion, the Elizabeth Apartments, the Chinese, the port, the environment, etc? Weird shit. I don’t think I get it.
I have no idea what those meant, or who paid for them. Must be someone rich though… those ads would have been pretty expensive.
