Re: Why the turnover?

I assume this story is accurate. What is going on? Are these isolated departures or is something going on? Bad management, government, etc?

Prince Rupert is having troubles - with staff, finances and the state of its schools.

The most recent blow is the departure of secretary-treasurer Kim Morris, who submitted her resignation after two years with the P.R. district to become Kootenay-Columbia’s secretary-treasurer. Her departure follows the mysterious disappearance earlier this year of superintendent Eric Mercer.

In a report today, the Northern View says Morris’s departure comes amid “a swell of chaos around configuration issues.” The newspaper adds:

"The departure of yet another member of the administrative personnel raises some serious concerns, especially at this critical juncture, said board chair Tina Last in a phone interview following the announcement.

“In the past few years, the board has seen tremendous turnover, including three superintendents, two secretary-treasurers and the departure of long-time district employee and director of instruction Bill Ford.”

The school district is facing the possible closure of three schools. A Matrix report in April said five of eight elementary schools have serious deficiencies and need expensive upgrades.

Oh, its accurate…but as for being isolated cases of departure…you really think that?

Hmmm, I found some past posts that should keep me busy for awhile. LOL!!

I don’t know, but perhaps all the drama at school district is simply jealousy.

Maybe the SD is jealous of all the intresting decisions that city council is coming up with these days and decided to add a little spice to their own deliberations.

Perhaps if one of us accepted a new position in a new city and had to endure firing a superintendent, closing schools amidst much controversy as well as taking the brunt of one-sided arguments from parents would make us want to get the hell out as well.

Note I have no idea if Ms Morris feels this way - this is MY opinion on matters, and MINE alone.

Miss Morris came to PR from Castlegar. She has family there.  She left her accountant position with the SD there, to become Secretary Treasurer here.  Now that she has experience they’ll take her back.

Plus… added responsibilities filling in for in-between supers, trying to balance an unbalanced, quasi multi-directional board (CHSS meeting as example) and personal reasons. My best guesses. Most people don’t want to leave after a couple years, especially if the job is good. Rupert is an inexpensive place to live (without property taxes).

Because they like apple pastry treats?

Bing! There’s the answer. 'Nuff said.

Well said!!!

I keep telling you guys; they are reverse vampires, and they need to leave Prince Rupert to assemble an army of reverse vampires before they come back to annihilate us all.

The conspiracies that you guys are screaming for, are just plain wrong.

Reverse Vampires is the only logical answer.

Okay.  I’ll buy that…but…how do you kill reverse vampires?

How can they possibly be reverse vampires?  There’s not enough sunshine here for them to survive, it’s far too rainy.

That’s why they keep leaving.

Buh by…it is good to know ya.

Thats why the like it here to begin with,  they are reverse vampires,  no sun,  duh…

If they are reverse vampires, then they like sun, right?  'cause normal vampires hate sun?

So I think that’s why they’re not staying.

Reverse Vampires?

It’s like Bizarro Jerry (from Seinfeld - which he took from Superman) hee hee…

Pork Chop in the colon.
