in 2007, $612,000 was given to the 40 + members of the local Bingo Group. All who hold bingo licences. If you are saying that it is dirty money, I hope that your kids don’t attend any of the schools that benefit from this, or the Sea Cadets or that you are a member of the Legion or Lions or Moose clubs or have received financial assistance from any of these groups. My kids got a new playground at their school in part thanks to Bingo Dollars!
I believe that Justin Case is trying to point out the individuals who are caught up with the Gambling addiction. He always seems to look at the problem of addiction.
Thats because gambling is an addiction and so is a alot of things that get talked about on here and we need a voice of reason which Justin Case seems to bring forward. and things been bought with casino money is Dirty money. i agree with justin case in this case
they dont drag people in there . they can voluntarily ban themselves or friendscan suggest to management about friends problems
Well isn’t that just great. Is it not true that the new Transition House is being built on the property close to the Anchor Inn. Nice to know that the ladies will be safe and out of harms way with another friggin’ source of booze close to thier home. This is total bullshit and city council, if they are indeed accomplishing anything , should have put a veto on this licence . They ought to be ashamed

I see in today’s snoozle that the Surf Club is on the for sale block if you have 225,000 dollars in your pocket (you clearly don’t get the building just the bar). Perhaps Chances could buy it as well, just corner the drinking and entertainment market…
I guess what the HTMF people are saying is, don’t we have enough watering holes for a town this size, shit the way it looks downtown with all the stores closing we will have more watering holes then legit businesses. Should the City Council not be trying to bring businesses into this town and support small businesses with tax cuts and beautify the downtown core while we still have one?

also there hasnt been any extra licenses handed out . sollys isnt having a beer and wine anymore their license is going to 5 corners. maverick mart is using the crests license. as far as i know from what ive heard a hotel has a license to have beer and wine store.but as i said b4 no one forces you to walk in their doors

Oh that is correct… Not sure what will happen to Solly’s after 18 months… seems that is as long as chances got the liqour license for it… I think Solly’s is at best a “marginal business” and if they cant turn it around maybe its on it way out who knows…
