A sold out crowd packed the arena at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre on Saturday night to witness the Rupert Rampage take on the Kitimat Ice Demons in what proved to be a fast-paced, hard fought 5-2 Ice Demons victory.
Despite being shorthanded several times, the Rampage kept pace with the Demons up until the last two and a half minutes of the first period. With 2:19 to go Kitimat’s Greg Sabey fed a beautiful cross ice pass to Gerard Baldo, who found the back of the net with ease, and a shot from in close went top shelf just 49 seconds later to send the Rampage into the second down 2-0.
