Prince Rupert, Port Edward oppose sale of Ridley Terminals

The City of Prince Rupert and the District of Port Edward have weighed in on the proposed sale of Ridley Terminals, and both said that they are firmly opposed to selling the facility to a private company.

“The position of the City is that at this point, until we know more information, we would be opposed to the sale of Ridley Terminals to a private interest…The concern is that if it goes to one owner there is a monopoly and, in terms of viability, coal producers in Northeastern B.C. and elsewhere need access to shipping from the nearest point available,â€
