Woah, what happened?
As far as I can tell what truck was trying to make the turn while going to quickly and the whole thing flipped over
Yeah , I am sure there will be more of this stuff happening in the community with the container port being here . But as the Big Boys in charge may not really care and the big bucks keep happening what the hell .
So true one of these times it will be around where people are walking scarey stuff… but like you say as long as the big bucks come in what the hell eh??
Hopefully there will be more of an appetite to move the “alternate route” talks ahead, truth of the matter is, we cannot move these containers right through the heart of the city without incidences happening.
Is no need for alternatives route talk. They are building like madmen between the port and Ridley now, Must be 3 huge dump trucks running steady and 5-6 excavators working. Wont take long at the rate they are going.
Did the driver or anyone else get hurt?
The alternative route from Container Terminal to Ridley Island is already underway…they have been blasting and removing rocks and clearing land for over 2 months now.
They are NOT building a road only a rail at this time!Absolute BS!
Salty Bear thanks I thought that but was not sure … the alternative road is years away
Um,Jump in your boat and take a look. Looks to me like the rail corridor is getting done on the inside of the tracks and road is getting built on the harbour side.
From Northern View,
Work on the Ridley Island Road, Rail and Utility Corridor kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony on March 8.
“Phase one of the $90 million project includes the construction of an eight kilometre loop of five rail tracks, a two-lane road and port-owned hydro lines. The result will be opening up 400 hectares of industrial land on the island for projects like the Canpotex potash terminal and BG Group LNG export terminal”.
They absolutely are building a road…or preparing to build one. This construction area is before the bridge overpass onto Ridley.
The road rail utility project is taking place behind the Coal Terminal and around the south end of the island…two seperate projects.
They did not get enough funding for a road and rail so only the rail is being built at this time(between fairview and ridley)the 90 million is for the ring road and rail on ridley!
