No rumour - all true.  See the press release on the Northern Health website www.northernhealth.ca

Northern Health has put increased infection control measures in place at Acropolis Manor and the extended care unit of Prince Rupert Regional Hospital, after confirming an outbreak of norovirus at one of the facilities.

To date, there have been eight cases of gastrointestinal illness in the ECU at the hospital. Results of testing on samples from affected residents by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control have confirmed the illness is norovirus. There have been three suspected cases of norovirus at the Acropolis Manor long-term care facility, and samples from those residents are currently being tested.

Northern Health is asking visitors to either facility to help control the spread of the virus by taking infection control precautions. These measures can include checking in with nursing staff on arrival, careful handwashing before visiting a patient or resident, and avoiding either facility if you have had any symptoms like nausea, vomiting or diarrhea in the past 48 hours.
