So a little over a year ago I scooped an M2 Mac Mini up when BestBuy slipped up and offered the 512 GB model at the base price.
End of the week they’ll have the new M4 model and it’s amazing - even smaller size, way more powerful and the base model has 16 GB instead of 8, Base hard drive is still 256. Now one reason I scooped the one I did was because they’d reverted to a single 256 chip instead of two 128s and made that base model slower than the M1 mini. Don’t know on the M4 but the read/write speeds on the spec sheets are constant for all the M4 drives. More lanes? Don’t know, no teardowns posted yet.
$799 for the M4 Mini and it looks like it literally blows away anything else out there.
I’ve suggested MacMinis as a bargain replacement for dead PCs since 2006 but only 1 person ever listened. All the rest had to get a PC laptop and send their monitor, keyboard and mouse to the closet or recycle bin.
Okay do they’re not here yet cuz the ports were shut down for a couple days and the Post Office is locked out…
So if it’s similar to the M1 release we should see the M4s in shops around Christmas 2026.
Amazon was prepared. The SSD I ordered Nov 1st the earliest deilvered by date was Dec 9th for Prime members.
Honestly guys, I try to be an optimist but experience has taught me the futility in that.
Q: Notifications show up on the top right and cover up the controls on my browser. Often they don’t hide if you just click on the window itself, they only open a new about window, then reappear if you close that - blocking the browser controls once again.
Just turned off ALL notifications, but of course I’d like to see some and control if they’re in my face or where they pop up. Like in Windows, click to see if there are any when and if you want to
No, they’re much smaller pop ups with no X. Just big enough to cover the FFox minimize/maximize/off controls on the top right.
I’ll scrrenshot it if what I sis doesn’t fix it.
