I forget the name of the gizmo: It’s a ROM chip with the OS programmed on it that plugs into you IDE slot. Used to have one with STAR OS on it and a small bandwidth manager program on it.

Found a system that after running AVG, Protector Plus, Norton, and housecall kept sending a few e-mails to @163.com every time it connected. Each program found a few trojans the other ones didn’t. Then ALL reported the system clean. System restore OFF.
Ended up format, fixboot, reinstall XP.
