Moratorium on logging?

Did he kiss you?

I spent Sat. night getting shitfaced with my cousin and watching 6 hours of Borat. Nothing even comes close to being as funny as Borat.

People, go to YouTube, watch some Borat clips, and get ready for his movie. Nothing will be funnier, ever.

“In my country, our hobbies are disco dancing, archery, rape, and table tennis…”

Fuck it, I’m moving Borats contry. Fuck this land of homosexuals and Jews.

i found my first yew tree the other day, i was pretty blown away by the size of it too - 2-3 feet thick at the base and easily 50-60 feet tall (it had been blown to the ground but had turned the lower sides branches into roots ) and with lots of new crowns coming up from it.  cool tree i expecte something the size of a big rhodi bush.

Nice man I haven’t seen one around Rupert yet.  Awesome wood though!

I would like to see thie tree. I havent come accross a yew tree that big, ever. Any pics, directions or coordinates?

for what reason? i know yews have great financial value to some people and im not really stoked on sharing it to someone whos going to strip the bark or who knows what.

I am more curious than anything. By the way stripping the bark from a tree if done the right wat will have no adverse affects on the tree, not that I want to or anything, I just want to see for myself if it truely is a Yew Tree, the ones I have seen were not that big. Quit trying to hord nature.

Gee, I guess there’s no use asking you to show us that unicorn you found.

LOST:Unicorn
COLOUR: White
Anwers to mittens
In the vicinity of Sesame Street and Mr. Rodger’s neighbourhood

so by your tone, im being a dick for being cautious about this?

you guys are chumps, as well, its ‘hoard’, not hord [sic].

right now ive got a badass case o’ torticullis or else i’d go hike and take some shots of it. thats what got me too was the size of this thing - ive loaned out my book of northcoast trees but i dont remember

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxus_brevifolia

wikipedia says it can get to 10-15m tall ? this one was definitely on the upper range of that, if not bigger, and easily 30" thick at the base.

ill go get a shot of it when i get a moment.  part of my hesitation to point you in the direction of it is that its not on a ‘hiking trail’ per say, i was scouting for a bike trail on the backside of ridley and it is definitely out in the boonies.

I am not trying to push any type of tone I was just curious. I  would however like to know what you mean by “you guys are chumps, as well,”  I know it wasn’t because of my spelling mistake.

You guys? I never wrote hoard or hord, Mr. Spelling Champ.

‘Quit trying to hord[sic] nature’ doesnt seem so neighbourly to me, hence the chump comment.

Takes one to know one.

Expert gives ‘thumbs-up’ to village’s logging plans

With harvesting expected to commence within a week, the consultant hired by
the city to examine the logging plans of the Metlakatla Development
Corporation for the inner harbour has said he believes the operation will be
a success.

Council received its report from Calypso Consulting at its meeting on
Monday.

Gerrard Olivotto, the registered professional forester (RPF) who visited the
city and spoke with the forest district manager, said he “has confidence
that this forest harvesting operation will meet the Visual Quality
Objectives and maintain the beautiful scenery across the harbour from Prince
Rupert for a number of reasons.”

He noted Metlakatla has taken great care in background work and planning
that ensure compliance with the “retention objective,” not altering more
than 1.5 per cent of the viewscape, including visual assessment and wind
throw hazard assessment.

In addition, no roads will be cut because the operation will take place by
helicopter and 50 per cent of standing timber will screen most of the
operation.

“City hall and the forest district service manager will be watching from
their office windows,” he said, and so will many citizens.

“I trust that harvesting operations will be a success and provide an example
of how to do things right,” he said.

Council agreed to spend up to $2,000 to hire an RPF after being petitioned
by members of the Inner Harbour Protection Society, a group concerned about
the future look and preservation of trees in Prince Rupert’s harbour. The
society suggested council hire an RPF to ensure concerns about proposed
logging were addressed.

However Olivotto’s report was not without concerns, particularly about the
timing of the cuts and the safety of the loggers.

Logging is expected to commence within a week in order to be complete by the
time the cruise ships begin arriving.

“I worry about the risk to workers with a fast pace of felling and
helicopter yarding,” he said.

“Those two occupations are among the highest risk of injury in the forest
industry, particularly when rushed.”

“It would be sad to injure local people in order to make a good impression
for visitors. It would be prudent to take more time, and complete the
harvest in the fall,” said Olivotto.

He also noted a much greater threat to Prince Rupert’s view. Apparently, the
Melville Arm/ Russel Arm/Salt Lake area is private land and there are no
restrictions for logging on private land.

“The only way Prince Rupert can ensure preservation of its presently
pristine viewscape would be to either come to an agreement with the
landowners or purchase that land,” he said.

“It would make a wonderful recreation area for local citizens and visitors
alike. Otherwise, potentially 30 to 50 per cent, depending on the vantage
point, of the visible shore opposite the town site could be clear cut.”

I told you!

"He also noted a much greater threat to Prince Rupert’s view. Apparently, the
Melville Arm/ Russel Arm/Salt Lake area is private land and there are no
restrictions for logging on private land. "

Salt Lakes…private land?  I’m a bit curious to know as to who the owner might be.

Funny!!! Europe has been around for ??? years and they use…stone, brick and concrete. But this is what you get when people are un-educated about stuff like this!!! ever hear washing your ass, like most other countries, and drying it with a towel…We don’t need to use wood as we did in the past!!! We have metal 2x4’s,and many other materials to build home, etc. The only reason we do now!! as always greed!!! $$$$$$,is all we care about, and what  is the cost!!! our plant!!!

Cost is not the planet my friend no matter what we do to it. It will be hear long after we have killed ourselves off. Think about it. If we used all the resources up or if we nuked ourselves life would continue on. It’s all about saving humanity from its self.

Wood grows back. Steel and brick do not.
Wood always stores carbon. Steel and brick emit carbon to produce.
We feed our kids working with wood. There are no iron mines or steel mills in BC.
Is the energy use to wash a towel less than to produce a few sheets of TP?
or more importantly:
Would you like to press a button and get a shot of icewater on your bunghole when the stall door is only 6" in front of your head?
