Cool article on wired news about the launch of the Smart in the USA.
Apparently the first shipment of the cars to Canada instantly sold out.
Neat.

That will be pretty neat.
fuck yea.
i’ll buy one if i can have a bit more ground clearance, and some sort of crazy rack system where i can pile on a couple bikes or a rocket box of gear or some sort of ‘car backpack’ or something.
Those look like the kinds of cars I get in Kinder Surprises!

My favourite is the roadster… I want one of these.
have you seen the 2005 mustang, wow for a old new car it sure is nice.
Humm
New Mustang with its big V8 Gas burning engine
or a Smart roadster that runs on disel
its a real hard choice
and damn that red roadster looks sweet, i really want one
actually if u have the money it is a hard choice, they are both killer cars.
The roadster is almost a third the price of a mustang.
Slashdot story today on the smarts:

my photo gallery of smarts in Europe:
OK, here’s a thought. Grab one, reverse engineer it. Buy the name ‘Studebaker’ (I think the Cdn gov’t still owns it) and make a Cdn built small car in Rupert. Bring in Suzuki engines or something.
Direct access to port for parts & shipping. Rail link to market, and need for jobs. Talk Jimmy Pattison into minor position and the Liberals will fall all over themselves with grants, subsidies, etc.
Need, demand, facilities, skills, supply, brand name. Needs only capital.
Any ambitious entrepeneurs? Or is it all ‘wood think’ out there too?
Oh… I want the PR & marketing dept.
on second look, they look like bumper cars.
I’d hate to be in one of those cars in a head-on-collision.
Did you see the video? It’s built to withstand head-on-collisions, and is T-bone proof, unlike most North American SUVs.
Here are some great crash-test pictures of the smart, including head-on:

It’s a heck of a lot safer than most cars.
oh my bad, i just didnt do a good reading job, i just read a topic of it being a coffin on wheels, but i didnt really read it that well.
If you have to own a car, the smart seems like a good choice, but try a human powered vehicle or walking.
One day I hope to get one of these:
looks dangerous
I’ve seen a guy around town with one. They look super comfortable.
I see a trend. Stokes = my mother
