A former bookkeeper at the Lax Kw’alaams Academy, a school in the community, has been charged with Fraud over $5,000 after an RCMP investigation determined the school had been defrauded of payroll funding by an amount in excess of $150,000.
This is a problem in many band councils,poverty is a big problem there is
low income and to much substance abuse.I have a friend who’s wife is hooked
on bingo and he said she spends at least 2000 a month her gambling habit we
need to get better counseling here in prince Rupert we should not blame folks
like this young lady who properly is a single mom trying to survive and who may have
a addiction which she needs help with.
I have no remorse for somebody who steals from children. This woman was not poor, she was working as a frikin bookkeeper, she is a married woman and speculating on wether or not this person is addicted to anything is irrelevent, she stole alot of money and deserves what is coming to her.

That’s brutal, not sure how someone could expect to defraud a school of $150,000 and not be caught. Hopefully the courts deliver a strict sentence.
