Feeling Artistic? Come to the Creative Jam!

The Prince Rupert Community Arts Council presents the second annual Creative Jam - February 10 (6pm-9pm), 11 (10am-5pm) and 12 (10am-6pm) at the Lester Center of the Arts

CREATIVE JAM is a weekend of interdisciplinary creative activity with participants jamming on a common theme. From the realms of music, art, photography and creative writing, four facilitators will guide individuals and groups through a process of learning through active creativity. The weekend will close with a Public Presentation of our creations.

Facilitators
Music: Sgaalanglaay Gaamdamaay Williams (Vernon Williams Jr.) was born and raised on Haida Gwaii. He is a composer of traditional songs and shares the songs he has created with all students he works with.

Visual Arts: Nicole Best Rudderham. Nicole’s painterly style is created using mediums that include acrylics, oils, watercolors and chalk pastels. With her motto “Anyone can learn-!” she hosts classes and workshops in her downtown studio for art students of all ages.

Photography: Mike Ambach. He especially likes finding something compelling or beautiful in an otherwise ordinary subject. Mike shoots both digital and film, but he admits having “a soft spot for the magic of film”

Creative Writing: Michelle Barker. Michelle is a poet, a writer of fiction and non-fiction, a freelance editor, a leader of creative writing workshops, a bookstore haunter, a seeker of stories and beauty and spirit and strange connections and ways to make people laugh and cry.

Registration fee: $40 adult / $30 student & seniors (plus $5 if registering for visual arts)

You can download the registration form from the website artsprincerupert.ca/, or pick up a copy at the Library, Shutter Shack, McLean and Rudderham, or the Lester Center of the Arts.
