HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4522B will not read regular CD’s but it plays DVD’s.
Looked at most forums on Google and really didn’t find a solution.
Help please… 
Sounds like your drive’s OPU has failed. You could try deleting your driver for it and reinstalling it. Even trying a dif ide cable might work.
Hmmm, yah I did try those two. Still nothing. Damaged lasers u think?

The thing is…it was working perfectly before we brought the tower in for cleaning. 
Did they spray some compressed air in there?

Not likely but blowing shit onto the lens is.
Reads DVD but not CD is too weird, never encountered that before.
Like I was trying to tell you: multi burners are cheap and your combo burners gonna be 3 years old anyway.
I don’t know if it’s two different lenses, or just two different light sources, but one of them could have been knocked out of alignment with some compressed air.
