There is a new kernel exploit that is in the wild and if you run Linux you are urged to update your distro as soon as possible. This is a nasty one. At the moment I’m not running Linux until my distro (Slackware) has a patch for this kernel exploit. I’m running OpenBSD for the time being. I think a lot of the distros have issued patches.
Just upgraded this server, and all my other ones
It took over a week for the patches to show up on the Slackware mirrors. All of my Slackware boxes are now patched for dirty cow. Yes. I could have rolled my own kernel and have done so in the past. I’m getting lazy in my old age. It is good to be running Slackware again.
