Deep freeze

plz tel me how to crack it !! i’m using my school computer and i want to crack it !!

No.

What do you think this is? A place for hackers? I think not!

You’re going to need to write me an eight page essay (double spaced, MLA format) explaining the need to crax0r your school’s computer.

Well about a year ago, I guess before they upgraded or something me and a friend got rid of it. All we did was use a boot disk to delete the Hyper Technology(I think thats it) folder with deltre and when we booted it up it was gone. But recently(last week) I tryed to get rid of it so that I could install codecs and winamp and stuff like that and when I tryed to do the deltre again it wouldent even boot(like it would freeze when it got to the part where it would check the boot order, im guessint its in the bios as part of the boot order, but i dont really know that much). I was thinking if there was a way to see what changes are made to the HD then you would be able to undo all of them, cause in this ver. it has something that links it to the the .exe so that it wont boot if you delete it. If its the bios i guees you could reset them or something, by either flashing them or taking the battery out(I dont know where i herd about that but your comp might not boot anymore and i dont know how to flash the bios if you comp wont boot). Sorry if im being some kind of blabering noob who doesnt know what he’s talking about and I dont know that that would help anyone but for some reason i felt like running my mouth. HAHA

You people at school, you got storage space on the server. Simply install the programs at home. Then take the directory and zip it. Upload the zip to a server. Then download and extract it at school to your network drive. Therefore bypassing the need to install the program. Plus it’s always there and doesn’t keep getting deleted.

hmm…my friends and I have found a way (we think) to get aroud Deepfreeze. You need to modify Deepfreeze with Knoppix and then access the thawspace with it. Keep in mind that thawspace is only about 100 megs, so do not attemp anything huge. 8)

I heard about the Knoppix idea before, though I can’t remember where. Save your time though, I also heard that it doesn’t work. Tough break. Oh and you also misspelled attempt.

I installed deep freeze on my comp (XP) and only half the programe installed the part that freezes the comp. i have no icon in the system tray and no way of rebooting to a thawed state. So me comp is now crap.

You have to hold the shift key and doubleclick in the quicklaunch thingy to bring up the window. Then you have to put in the password to access thawspace, or disable Deepfreeze. I think. Either one of the two.

Like i said i only have half of the program, i dont have any .dll or .sys files that go with deep freeze or frzstate.exe which is the password pop up thingy. And with no way to beet deep freeze my comp is stuffed. and frozen.

Still, I’d love to be able to get around this stuff and install whatever I’d like (Mozilla, Winamp, Textpad, Jedi Academy, some of my programming work–she lets us have free days to work on the laptops, and I need something to do on them). Unfortunately, short of creating some bootable Linux disks, nuking partitions, and restoring a bare-naked Windows XP with whatever I want (would that even work? I’m beginning to doubt…) I’ve had no clue what to do.[/quote]

Don’t you kids get it? They are locked down for a REASON!. Newsflash, they ‘aint’ your computers. It’s not up to you to load illegal pirated software on them or hack them or mess with them. If the Network admins could trust you not to make a$$es of yourselves on their computers the software wouldn’t be there. Ever heard of piracy laws? You install Jedi Academy on that computer and the school could get fined over $100,000 if they get caught. If you want to play with a computer use your own personal one. If you want to do educational research and school work, then use the ones provided by the district. Personally I find it disturbing that the teacher told you to do whatever with the systems. It shows a complete lack of responsibility on their part.
It students like you, with a total lack of respect for other peoples stuff, that get their accounts yanked… and for good reason.

-district admin

you are implying that all of the people on here have malicious intents. well “newsflash” not everyone on here are installing illegal material or ‘hacking’. while i am sure that there are some people on here who are trying to find a way to get around it for those reasons, they are not a representation of us all. you have no right to sterotype people like that. some people, like arlie, may be on here due to a problem with the program that is on their PERSONAL computer. the program, although it it designed for shared computer systems, may also be used as a personal program. i would also like to point out that you were/are a student as well, so you reallty should not be critisizing the people on here about anything that they do on computers, whether theirs or not. also, students do in fact have respect for other peoples property, i do not know how the ‘kids’ where you live behave, but for the most part, ‘kids’ are just adults in smaller bodies. their minds may not have fully matured yet, but they certainly do not deserve to be treated as a lesser being, or just looked down upon because they display their emotions in more fluctuating patterns. they have the same rights as you and i. ‘kids’ are not terrible people. ‘kids’ do not necesarily always do illegal things. there are only a select few who do it just like adults.

Hmmm… apparently you missed the part where I specifically quoted a “student” who came right out and said he was trying to break into an educational laptop to load games.

The fact that you took it upon yourself to take offense to my expression of concerns for the lack of decency on that student suggests to me that you share the same values as that individual and hold a similar status in our society.

I pity your sys-admin.

You two are funny.

Guest posting at 4:46PM on the 21st: you’re funnier. You say that some people may be there due to to a problem with the program on their “PERSONAL” computer…you’re implying that because you have a problem with your home computer you have the right to use the school’s computers as you see fit? What a line of reasoning!

My car broke down, so I think I’ll use the state police’s car for awhile…after all, I have a problem with MY car, and I have to get to work SOMEHOW, so I’ll just use their’s.

The computers in the school systems have a terms of usage attached to them. When you use them, you agree to abide by those rules. If those rules are to not install things or modify the installations, then TOUGH. You agreed to abide by those rules.

As for kids being just little adults, believe me I believe you sometimes. Adults often show they have little intelligence or common sense. HOWEVER speaking 20/20 hindsight I can also say that adults generally have a bit more of a clue in most areas of life than students do…it’s disheartening and disappointing to time and time again see some idiot kid make the same d*mn mistakes their parents or peers made at that age simply because they think they know better or it “won’t happen to them”.

I’m assuming you are a student; you don’t mention your age, but I do find it refreshing that you actually have a readable and legible writing style if you are a student. After seeing some of the mail bounces and misdirects sent by students in this area, you are DEFINITELY not one of teh average ones. Here’s a tip for you; if my assessment of you is correct, learn early on that you aren’t among the “average” and stop expecting people to be as responsible and intelligent as you believe yourself to be. Understand that if you use computers for learning or for intelligent pursuits you are in the very small group of computer users overall. It’ll keep you from being disappointed in the future.

at the end of the day they are just shitty computers

Hmm…it has been a while since I have been able to engage in such an arguement/debate where people have such intelligence. Although I still do not hold a similar view as you, Nickster and Guest (4:22), I am able to see as to where you are both coming from. I must also admit that I LOVE your analogy of the cars 4:22! As to the comment made by Nickstar as to my values: It is very possible that I share the same values. It is also quite possible that I do not share the same values. (I never did like to share…) I actually do not know where I stand on ALL my values, I tend to agree with admin. policies, whilst I also find myself agreeing with some student ‘policies’ as well. On this particular topic, I seem to favor the students’. Do not know why, but I do. ^_^P In the end, when everything is boiled down, the truth of the matter is that the school computers are in fact only there to help further student’s education, not to provide entertainment while their parent’s tax money is being wasted. It still is such a shame that there need be a program like Deepfreeze to begin with though. Our society is not what it used to be.

Oh, society most likely is similar to what it used to be…just another aspect of human nature. Although I have noticed less and less emphasis on learning and valuing education; school is just another rung on the ladder of life that must be tolerated between football games and social events.

You are correct in that the computers in schools are there, by intent anyway, for facilitating learning for students. By using them, they agree to certain policies. What if there were a rule saying “if you want to come into this restaurant, you must recite “I’m a little teapot” complete with the gestures?” Don’t like the rule? Don’t go in. Don’t like the rules for using the school computer? Don’t use them. Use a public lab (like some YMCAs have or cyber cafe’s, if you’re in an area with them) or your home computer. Personally, the restrictions of “no installing software that may land US, the legally LIABLE, in hot water” and “no searching for pornography and other offensive material” to be all that much of a handicap on systems where the purpose of those systems is to do research and write up documents and presentations for projects, but that’s just me…

The world has many rules that we don’t necessarily want to follow, and some of them don’t make much sense. Indeed some of them really could be done away with; adults aren’t perfect in any sense of the word. The spirit of the rules and policies, however, ARE there for a reason. You’re better served trying to right perceived injustices through the system rather than just trying to do it however you want to do it and then be left whining when there’s a backlash or punishment for getting caught.

…besides, who said that you can’t play the system against itself?

I have to agree.

Ok. I’m working on one of the 2 shared computers in the student house. A week ago, I complained to the administrator that there’s too much programs running in the system and it is very slow. And he finds some program on the web, download it and use it. I didn’t know what it was. Wad I found out was after that I can’t save my work in my profile any longer. I asked him why and he doesn’t know. He said maybe there’s a bug or virus in the computer. (that shows that he doesn’t even know wad DeepFreeze is) Ok. I did an Adaware scan and install (dunno why there isn’t any virus scan programs as well…)Norton to scan for viruses. Didn’t finish the Norton scan though coz it hanged halfway. And so, I found out that there’s more than 1000 spywares and around 20 viruses (died there) on this computer. And I can’t remove them permenantly coz he installed Deep Freeze. I dunno abt this program but I did a little research. It seems that there’s nothing I can do abt this unless I have the password. The administrator is in Singapore now and he only realised what happened 1 day before he left. What a stupid idiot!!! He doesn’t know wad he is installing and he should have removed those unwanted programs, spywares and viruses before installing. Now, the computer is still as slow and its useless to clear those unwanted stuffs. He doesn’t want to give me the password. God knows why??? So, here’s wad I’m asking for. Anyone who knows how to hack or crack the password of DeepFreeze, pls, PLS email me. Oh…btw it’s DeepFreeze 2000XP. Sigh…I can’t stand the computer anymore!!! :imp:

What do i get in return if i give you a password retrieval program?

hint: I like pixi stix
