Is it ilegal to drive with a cracked winshield?
does the crack have to be in the line of sight?
My Firefly had a crack winshield that ran all the way across the midpoint I never got a ticket, and I went threw road blocks all the time. 
Yes, it’s illegal.
If a crack, anywhere on the windshield, is longer than 6", it is illegal.
If a chip cannot be covered completely by a $0.25 coin, it is illegal.
However, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. If you ever get hassled about it, just say that it happened very recently.
wow then I was lucky couse my crack must have been 3 feet.
