I stopped by the new food bank a couple of weeks ago to see how they are doing in their new digs, across from the church by Freindship house and chatted with Wendy for a bit. Her and her volunteers have worked really hard in there and the place looks great, organized and spotless. It would be nice if we all donated a little to them. She said people do the best they can but they could use canned fruit especially for the kids going back to school. I know some of you guys on here are down on SA for whatever reasons but this is our community food bank, they work really hard taking too much crap from people they are there to help and it would be nice to give back and let them know they are making a difference. It seems like a very thankless job if you ask me. They are open Mon,Wed and Fri if you want to pop in. You are always welcome there by her and her crew.
Yeah me and the girls know Wendy very well, you mention how some people are ragging on the S&A for whatever reason but I kind of think and my girlfriends would think the same. If everyone met us and accepted us as Wendy and her staff of Brian , Ivy and there is another guy there sometimes we would not be feeling as outcast because of how we live our lives. I have taken my kids in there with me and Wendy always talks nice to my daughters and tries to give us the best service that she is allowed. Yes it is for the community I guess and not for the church and while she is there she will forever have mine and our support.
I am positive that any and all donations of non-perishables would be greatly appreciated there. They do have freezers now though so maybe they will accept items that can be frozen for a bit. Good stuff
