Zellers was brought up in another thread. There was some mention of the store lay out.
Its the same as any other dept. store, so whats to rearrange?
The biggest problem with Zellers are the checkouts and always have been.
I was in there Friday morning for a few small items. There were two checkouts
open and both of them had long line ups! I could see carts with a lot of food items and
clothing. The cothing especially takes a long time for the clerk to process.
The check out girls are usually very good. Its the store that is at fault. As I waited
both check out clerks called for a couple more tills to open. Wait!
Finally I went to the electronics check out. Its a check out and any one can use it
for anything and its usually a shorter wait. I got my stuff done in a few min.
When I left there were still only two tills open with longer lines.
Zellers has a choke hold on Rupert and the attitude of the management reflects that.
Any other Zellers stores I have been to still have a grimy feel to them.
What I notice is the disorganized feel. Clothes are tossed about. You can not get through the racks with out bumping into another, (and that is with no children, or hubby at my heels)
There is WAY to much clothing that does not sell which junks up the clothing section as well.
The shelf ends are junked up with nic nacks and odd pieces that does not represent the isle they are on.
There are clearance products which should just be taken down to FIELDS.
Shelves in the ‘Beauty’ isle are not stocked, and there arent any quality brands. Which means whatever is around is over priced.
I guess just every section is unorganized. Either has too much stock which is cluttering the shelves. Or has limited selection for a shitty price.
The only section I would say is good is the food/candy isle. I dont know how anyone could mess that up. It really just feels like shopping in a thrift store, and the Prince Rupert Salvation Army has a better layout than Zellers. Imo.
The biggest problem with Zellers is that many or most items don’t have any price label on the item or on the shelf.
Zellers has too much stock, the got the idea of a clearance store and I thought it was a good one but that didn’t last long. There is so much junk in the aisles you have trouble getting down them. It is a challenge to safety. As if it were not crowded enough then they have all that stock piled up and going nowhere. Who gets the flack for this…the poor clerks. They don’t deserve this. They all try so hard but a pigs ear is still a pigs ear. I’m giving up on Zellers, I would rather take a drive to Terrace where you can get down the aisles to get to the product I want and at a better price. The manager of Zellers had better grow a pair and tell head office to back off. No business means no jobs. Eventually this will happen. You can’t sell what people can’t get to. The store is dirty, overcrowded and disorganized. What a shame.
Zellers has been a dump esp the past couple of years… I gave up and went to Terrace long ago…
I esp hate the fact that half the store stock is not priced, so you gotta look for one of those price checker thingies…
I find many of the staff rude, just piss poor management that does not know their ass from a hole in the ground. Give me Whally World any day… The rest of the mall is not up to much, although I was surprised earlier this year to see that The Source had renoed… All we have here is good grocery stores, Shoppers, Rona and Home Hardware, out side of that you gotta go to Terrace…

Have to agree with all the posters for the most part! What I hate is not only is stock not priced, and what is up with that anyway, but half the time you manage to find one of those price checky things, it bleeps out that the item is not listed in the inventory so off you go to find a happy ?? cashier to swipe it for you! The store is not dirty but many of the customers feel it is their right to drop clothes on the ground and leave them there for the next person to walk on and so it goes. There are a few very nice clerks and a couple of horrible ones with horrible attitudes or the ones you ask “How are you?” at the checkout and 10 minutes later after you have heard all the gossip about every customer they have hated that day, off you go. Love the experience, oh yeah ! I get the feeling they know they are the only show in town and maybe feel they can treat the store and you accordingly. Oh and don’t try and buy anything at the jewellery counter unless you have a 1/2 hour to waste waiting for a clerk to come along ! Aaargh !!
I made the mistake of going to Zellers as I forgot something at Walmart…
I promised myself that is the last trip to that dam place. 3 of us were lined up at the entertainment counter no clerk, at the till.
He notices us and came towards the till, but a friend of his was near him, so he ignored us and walks off to visit the friend…
Two of us walked off and left the stuff on the counter…
The dam place is not getting another dime out of me.
The attitude of the staff is directly related to the attitude of the mangement. if you’re boss is a miserable old cow, who has no idea what she is doing, and shouldn’t be in a management position in the first place, you get staff that are under trained and miserable too.
I was in Zellers this afternoon and I have no complaints about the service. The checkout was fairly quick and the clerk was pleasant. I do agree that the place is completely disorganized, although I found what I was looking for almost immediately, and it was priced!
Glad you lucked out… today really got me, the young man wondering around visiting while customers waiting… I don’t blame the fellow, it’s piss poor management… I will await a trip back to Walmart to acquire the stuff I left behind or send with friends who are going. I am building quite a network of friends that go regularly when i can’t make it… A neighbour goes almost weekly…He mostly goes for Real Canadian Warehouse shopping besides Walmart, as he misses PC Products and more from Extra Foods…
The manager is male at the Zellers in PR
The previous manager was female, she’s since moved on to greener pastures
It’s a sad state to have one of the stores fall apart as it has due to poor management.

I was too lazy to type he/she. I was speaking generally. It happens with alot of places here.
It also doesn’t help that workers are paid minimum wage, and they basically get treated like slaves…
