i think my computer has a worm…
ive been told the only way to get rid of it is by reformatting… and i have no idea how to do that
is there any other way of ridding my computer of this annoying pest?
That’s what AVG and AVG-AS are for.
Turn off your System Restore (spare the grief, probably fucked anyway), dump your temp Internet files & c;/windows/temp to speed things up and run them.
Then run HijackThis cuz there’s a 90% chance IE will reinfect you the minute it fires up.
thanks… i really apreciate the help.
another question… how do i go about shutting off system restore?
Turn off System Restore:
Right-click “My Computer”, select “Properties”.
Click the “System Restore” tab at the top.
Uncheck “Turn off System Restore”.
Apply > Ok.
well it wont let me run system restore
i click on properties and it says
"this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. please contact your system administrator"
but i emptied temp files…
theres a pop up that keeps popping up every once and a while
“WINDOWS SECURITY ALERT
your computer is making unauthorized copies of your system and internet files run full scan now to pervent any unathorised access to your files click yes to download spyware remover”
spelling mistakes and all included.
I dont think windows has security alerts
i know. thats why i need to fix it
and now the floppy drive is loading constantly
format
gonna try what herbie suggested first…
i have no idea how to format and i sure as hell aint payin someone to do it!!
stupid worms… who the hell makes up these stupid things anyways… and can we hang them by their sexual organs from the ceiling for being so rude?

That’s that damn zlob or zorb thing, check the tech forum from about a week ago.
If you want to format & re-install Windows, that is actually easier than fixing the damned thing.
The #1 - download Firefox and GET RID OF THAT GODDAM INTERNET EXPLORER or you’ll get it again and again.
i only use firefox… its my all knowing father who likes to use the internet explorer…
even after time and time again of telling him not to
i dont want to reformat really… but i guess ill have to
i have no idea what so ever how to either.
i guess ill take it in to databoy.
ill check the tech thing though
is there a link?
Swing it (the PC) by my place. I’ll see if I can fix it and save you a bundle. Good idea?
i think AVG fixed it…
moms been playing cards on the computer for awhile now and the little pop up hasnt popped up… i hope it never pops up again…
thank you all for your help!!!
Keep AVG updated manually do it too, don’t just rely on the auto updater
Are you running windows xp ? Can’t you set ie explorer to only run with a certain user on the computer or administrator password ? i think you can if you are on xp - pro.
not on XP pro i dont think…
i dont knwo why anyone uses IE anymore… its such a stupid program
Yeah it’s yukie, Firefox all the way, You cold even install safari too, I think there was a registery hack that i used before that forced any links in any program to always use the set browser, you could always look for it.
SCORE!!! i think its gone
it hasnt popped up since i ran the scan
woot woot
oh nice, if anyone wanted to know an alternative to AVG Free there is Mcafee VirusScan Enterprise. that’s free as far as I know.
it’s stopped & cleaned up all the Viruses & Spyware on my computer
