Wolf Walk - Golden BC

Someone told me that some other people had done this walk as well and were in the paper - but I missed it.  Anyways, a friend of mine and I went to Golden, BC to visit the Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Center and took part in a 3 hour walk/hike with wolves.  First of all, here is their website:        northernlightswildlife.com/index.html

All of the wolves there (four currently I believe) were born and raised in captivity.  The center teaches the public about wolves and promotes conservation - they also do lots of sessions with schools to teach kids all about wolves as well.

We got to walk with Aspen - a female who is 25% Husky/Malamute and 75% Grey Wolf.  Tuk was the male - and he was incredibly skittish and leary of people.  The owner/handler told us that after a couple of hours Tuk might warm up to us enough to take some wild berries from our hands.  Well, we had Tuk’s full attention after a half hour into the walk.

So if you ever find yourself in Golden or passing nearby - I highly recommend the center.  The photography tour we did was a bit pricey, but you can simply wander around the grounds and listen to the interpreter explain about the wolves for a big whopping $10.

Anyways - on with the photos!

Very cool pics, Astrothug!  Wasn’t it an amazing experience?  I loved every minute of it - and my friend and I are already planning to revisit for more photo opportunities in the winter.
