And in light of both low oil and gas prices in North America, Asian buyers are now expecting lower prices for LNG._"
_Consultant and fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, told Business in Vancouver in October that it’s unlikely any large LNG project in the world will get an FID before 2019._
_Travis Whalen, energy analyst for S&P Global Platts, agrees._
_“It looks like there could be something of a rebound in demand, an opening for Canada, in the early 2020s, but before then there’s really just not a lot of space for any of these Canadian projects,” he said. “It’s going to be very difficult to secure the contracts that will let these projects move forward.”_

Petronas(PNWLNG) and Shell (LNG Canada)…They’ve been gone since 2015…
As for Shell and Petronas leaving a footprint, they spent some money and own some assets…So, …They’ll never be gone in you Prince Rupertonians eyes…

so far Grant has being posting links saying that Petronas will not go ahead because of
1 oil prices are too low
2 they are cutting costs to save money so they have no money to invest
3 they are investing in other projects in other countries
so because of 3 his first 2 arguments and links are useless.
if they are investing in other lng projects in other countries that means the oil prices don’t bother them and they cut costs so they can invest in projects
so Grant which of these 3 things have you gotten wrong? after all you did post a link stating that Petronas was going to develop LNG in Iran.

Should be interesting days ahead once the Trumpster gets in the White House. Looks as though his leading contender for Secretary of State is the Exxon CEO and Trumps dude to head the Environmental Protection Agency thinks that climate change is a hoax.
Guessing any climate agreements that are in place pretty much mean nothing now, so while Lelu may not be the greatest spot ever to build a plant it would have been built under some pretty strict guidelines but will likely not get built now but several more will now be built south of our border under much less regulation.

so Shell is looking at a new lead Contractor for it’s LNG plant in Kitimat, if Shell project is dead why would they ask for bidding on the project, after all it does take a few million dollars to do these bids.

lelu island will still be used for the plant they are only looking at putting the dock on ridley island as long as they don’t have to go through environmental review, I think they wan to use the canpotex site for the dock and yep for a company that will not build they sure are trying their hardest to get all their ducks in a row

Lol to just switch to another island just willy nilly is another laugh with another 2 or 3 years at least in planning and reviews and yet theyre also trying to drive down expenses on there lulu island project which usually means trying to convince the gov to accept less royalties and allow more cheap foreign temporary workers into the country …LNG the ultimate example of corporate welfare

Regardless of if or when this project is to proceed Prince Rupert needs big business to increase its tax base. Homeowners should not be expected to make up the $250+ million in infrastructure deficit which will only increase over time.
