The ships' here...!

I am glad you shop was hoppin, not sure which it is?
The Mall I cannot see the people off the ship going to.  As much as I know how hard they are working to improve the mall, there isn’t much for visitors off a ship to see and do there…

LOL!, Well that is the point isn’t it. It’s up to us to get them off the ship to spend the money. If we offer nothing, nothing will be spent. Supply and Demand. There is a potential cash cow of millions of dollars per season right at our door step. For a town with a population of 12,000 that amount is very significant and should not be ignored.

Well said DEX.
Looks like Prince Rupert needs to get some Tourism Champions promoting the benefits of tourism.  The paid purveyors will continue to do nothing…
First Nations dance, tours of fish plants, crab and halibut cookouts, city tours, eagle watching, tours of Butze Rapids, guided walking tours (Rushbrook trail?)etc etc.

Excellent ideas. I imagine a guide would have lots to tell a tourist about Prince Rupert’s past and present.
Incidentally, Victoria received close to 26.5 million dollars from Cruise ship tourists through the 2008 season and they are building up Ogden Point this year for more and larger cruise ships.

There once was a fellow (my bad I have forgotten his name, David Boyce? maybe?) who used to dress up in character of some of our city’s finer former inhabitants (Charles hays et al) and take tours around the city.  He left town a number of years ago, but perhaps there might be some money in it for the local theatre community to carry on that concept during the cruise ship season.

It seemed to be popular back then.

I think that Jacko should have shown up in full mayoralty regalia to kick off the cruise ship season with some official greetings. The Fire Department is always a class act at civic functions, although budgetary constraints may pertain. It was thoughtful of the City to put up a street sign pointing to the washrooms upstairs at City Hall in case any visitors were in need.

Yeah it was David B and if I am correct he removed himself from the teaching profession for his well being. This is when he was at Good Old Booth.

I remember him…He used to work or volunteer out at the North Pacific Cannery, I think it was actually when Pond was there, and he put on all these shows and presentations for the visitors.  Very colorful fella…Think he was from Victoria…Had heard he had found himself in some trouble but that could have been the rumour mill at work again…Haven’t seen him in a few years…

He was Drama teacher at Booth and had an affair with a young female student moved her into his house down the hall from where him and his wife were living, had to quit his teaching suddenly. Nasty shit and I remember Good Old Angus who hated such things and teachers doing this shit , wanted to kill him.

good news all, the third street market opens on the 4th!

So what will be going on there we all stand back and watch the Terrace people try and sell their stuff?I believe that I may get embarrassed calling this home pretty soon.

I’m moving to Port Ed!!! Prince Rupert is super embarrassing…

That’s good news?? lol… its all junk
