With a recycling centre here and not everyone has a vehicle to take their recycles to the depot, perhaps the city and city’s SQRD representatives can do more?

With 1,400+ (census 2006) over the age 65 yrs old and many live in their own homes, perhaps they can use a curb pick up service also. How green do we want our community?

There is a company in town that does pickup unsorted recyclables every two weeks for $20 ( I think).  I think they limit to two bags per pickup though.

There is a curbside pickup for recycling.  I’ve been using it since they started up a few years ago.  Pick up is 2 unsorted (nice) bags every 2 weeks and depending on how you pay it works out to between ~$9 and $10/pickup.  You can pay online 3/6/12 months in advance.  It is so nice not to have to sort the stuff, store the stuff, drive the stuff to the depot.  It is worth paying them to do it.  They’re also considering starting up a compost pickup soon.  As far as Terrace and their composter rebates:  I know 15 or so years ago this city used to GIVE you composters.  I don’t know what happened to that program.

Thanks Calee for the update. As for the city, they use to pick up the garbage from behind people’s homes and no limit to the garbage.  things have definitely changed and not in favour of the home owner. Plus the dump was open on Sundays so those who do work Monday-Friday can do yard work on Saturday and take it to the dump on Sundays… all gone.  Things have definitely changed and not in favour of the home owners.  :frowning:
