Suicide Pact?

now why on earth would members of our youth community want to do something selfless when they are perceived so negatively??  you should get out more because there
are hundreds of young ppl in this community who are good hearted caring selfless individuals who do take the time to volunteer and make the world a better place

I so did not mean that one person specifically, the fact that others would be so blatant and quick to judge, mostly with their outright sarcasm, espec. when it comes things such as this.  I know firsthand what’s best for our Youth. Kincolith is my home community and certainly, our Youth are not suffering here, they’re offered more than most when it comes to opportunities and are indeed provided for constantly.  We, as a people are taking responsibility as always, all precautionary measures are in action on what you think to be “nothing” and if anyone is actually missing an opportunity somewhere it must be you.  Our Youth have always been cared for and I won’t have anyone pass judgement or label them in the slightest bcuz of this pact. I know what’s what! When it comes down to having “concern” guess where we rank on that? Yeah, that’s right, don’t assume anything when you obviously don’t know what is fact or fiction.

Word to the fictitious mind, this topic has been exhausted, be a wise one and leave it alone now, there are actual communities having to face this difficult issue. Everyone knows their own business when it comes to doing their part in taking care of one another, your family or a community for that matter.  Just like many of you, I’m always on the defense, for all the right reasons and no matter what!

Sounds familiar.

“They” said the same thing about my generation.  And my parent’s generation.

“When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly disrespectful and impatient of restraint.”   Hesiod, 2800 years ago.

“What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents. They ignore the law. They riot in the streets inflamed with wild notions. Their morals are decaying. What is to become of them?”  Plato, 2400 years ago.

“The young people of today think of nothing but themselves… They are impatient of all restraint… As for the girls, they are forward, immodest and unladylike in speech, behavior and dress.”  Peter the Hermit, 700 years ago.

Suicide rates in Canada aren’t much different today than they were 40 years ago.

Whenever you try and generalize about the generation that comes after you like this, you’re making the mistake of just not getting it.  Just like the generation before yours just didn’t understand your peers.

I’m just curious…if you’re so concerned that this might be real, why did you decide to make a post on here about it instead of calling the local RCMP?

lol I think it of MY generation Mig… I don’t know many people my age who volunteer anymore… I do.

Because it was an hour after the “fact” that I saw all my friends’ posts about it.

I just have to ask you, because it’s been a question that has been nagging at me since I read this. But… Name some places that the youth of today volunteer for, because the last time I checked, at least in the organizations I belong to, there’s a shortage of people who want to volunteer, young and old alike… So I’d just like to know where all these youth who are taking time to volunteer are. I’d like to ask them to join MY causes…

What would be your causes? If I may ask. There are alot of great young people in this here community who do care for their own community and their peers and not every kid is a bad ass. The problem with people is if they see more than three or four they mistake the word group with gang. I always tell youth there are way more youth with good intentions then there are bad asses but for some reason youth with positive motivations fear the so called bad asses.

I would like to know what these causes are also that have a volunteer shortage as where I work, I am always getting clients who receive PWD Disabilty and are able to earn the extra $100 monthly for 10 hours of work, searching for volunteer hours.  Unfortunaely I don’t need anyone right now. I have a full team including one member in receipt of this assistance.  He had trouble finding places that would bring him on board and no, he does not have any incapacitating disability. He is a very hard worker, very conscientious and has a good personable attitude. He is a valued member of my team. I have my name on a list with a volunteer coordinator in town for a long time now for myself and have never had a call. Let us know where these places are please and maybe I can post it at work and assist some who are looking for volunteer work as some of these clients are hoping to not only work but it is a valuable asset to their resume.

I know the Northern Winter Games are looking for some folks to help

I’m not saying kids who don’t volunteer are bad asses… oh my… I’m saying that they just don’t want to do anything lol. There’s always going to be the few kids who want to get out there, I was, and still am a person who volunteers alot. So I was the exception to what I’m saying too.

So where are volunteers needed other than the Northern Winter Games?  Any positions available where you volunteer?

Bad copy of resume, sorry to say.

I’m sure there are a great deal of kids that would volunteer, but don’t have the out-going personality and courage to make the first steps towards being a volunteer. All it would take would be a personal invite, maybe a face to face, followed by positive re-enforcement of how they did a great job. You say your the exception, i’ll have to disagree. Maybe just try not patting yourself on the back so much and spreading it to the
younger shy volunteers. A lot of people would like to be a part of something good, but are to shy to come forward unless positively encouraged

That is very true Chrispy, positivity, support and patience. I have been a volunteer since I was 16, some good scenarios and some bad but the one thing I did take away for my current job and I hope I show my “guys” on a daily basis is gratitude.  They are not there to do the work that I do not want to do and they are not there to do my beckoning. They are there as much for their own selves as they are for the workplace, if not more so. I have seen one of my volunteers come a long way in the last couple of years. More self-assured, outgoing and sociable. I make a point to thank them many times during the day, make sure they are complimented on the job they have accomplished and at the end of the day as they are leaving, they are thanked again.  That is very important to me as without them, I could not do my job, it is that simple and I am sorry to say that is not happening to all volunteers.  Some are just used for the dirty work and then one wonders why they don’t return.  Oh, they just have no incentive. Bullshit, treat a volunteer with the respect they deserve and they will reward you many times over.

I’m still seeing not a reason why if you thought this was real and you were so worried, you couldn’t have contacted the RCMP.

Because by that time the RCMP already knew. As did mental health who brought in extra people to deal with it.

You cant say that youth in this community dont want to do anything…maybe the people you hang out with - but you cant go on speaking for everyone in such a negative manner.  The youth in this town dont get the credit they deserve, they are perceived so nagatively and its really not fair to judge those you dont even know

I AM considered a youth… I’m speaking of my generation…  :unamused:

And again, if there’s such an abundance of youth wanting to volunteer, then where are they when they’re needed???

with “youth” what age are you talking about ? people do have jobs , school , kids , family etc
