Street Lights Burnt Out

Anyone know who to phone regarding the Street lights in our Neighborhood? They’re burnt out, have been for a while.

It’s pitch black outside our place (at night), and our stupid “motion activated” lights go on when they want to.

City works yard maybe? Not sure what the number for them is.

In the phone book there is a blue section with all sorts of municipal government phone numbers and even one called “Street Light Repair” 250-627-0988

Just sayin…

Excellent thank you for all the productive replies.

Also, we don’t have a phone book. - Just sayin’

Speaking of street lights - - - does anyone know if they go off and on? Maybe timers or heat sensors? (Other than day /night of course)

Just askin’ …

They tend to turn off just as I walk under them

Coincidentally, I noticed a street lamp that was in the shade near the seaplane base yesterday, it was on in the middle of the day.

The # for street light repair is 250 627-0988. This was done by Citytel at one time but the city desided to get rid of the carpenters and the electrician and contract it out instead. Now the street lights will not be reapired as fast as they once were.

The reason they go on and off is because of lack of maintanance so when the bulbs get old they go of and on all the time. As for being on in the middle of the day, the photo cell is not working from lack of servicing.

photo electric cells as well as solar panels get covered in algae much the same as the siding on your house or your patio furniture and they are a little more difficult to access for cleaning purposes and when covered in a thick green slime they tend to not register sunlight / daylight quite the same…
