One of my favorite gripes is that we’re on the 4th MLA since I lived up here, all of which attend a Chamber of Commerce Meeting and stress the importance of supporting your local business.
All this while for 10 years, we’re 2 doors down from Children & Familes (and Welfare before they closed their office here) watching couriers deliver printers, paper, ink cartridges, etc. from the most overpriced Stationer in Prince George.
The old supervisor when asked directly told me it was because of ‘confidentiality’ they couldn’t just walk two doors over and buy a $3.99 for their dot matrix. He even explained in writing that was why they couldn’t share a T1 with us years ago, they needed one of their own and one for Welfare (when they Burnaby office got a 256K frame relay).
So today, I’m out having a smoke and see a repairman from PG coming out after fixing their PCs. He wandered over to check out my mini-truck and we struck up a conversation in which he asked why they call and pay him to drive two hours to and from PG when there’s a computer shop next door. So I explained their confidentiality excuse.
He laughed.
So I told him "Confidentiality? The town is so small, we all know WHO goes in there, WHEN they went in there and WHY they go in there before they do. And the best part is, WE KNOW who’s completely bull-shitting them and they don’t!"
We were both laughing when we heard the “ahem” and turned to see four people from their office right behind us. They gave us extremely dirty looks.
As they went back in the last one turned, flashed a grin. a wink and a thumbs up! 
Herbie you must be making this up, we do not know every story that goes in their office, but you are so riht about all the ones who Bullshit them and get away with the lie. You see them in their favourite restaurant in the mall getting fatter by the day, you can see them scam their way around town. What gets me is some have been doing this since they began to pee straight.
When you live in a town of only 1300 there’s only ONE degree of separation… 
But by July 31st the 2 biggest sources of gossip will have moved away! OMG the town won’t be the same.
Two, who can that be or what can that be? Tims closing or what ? That is a good place to catch up on the news.
justin case as far i know from herbies past posts he doesnt ive in rupert at present he is a previous resident. thats how the computer tech he talked about said it was a 2 hour call out to get to said town not 8 hours. just thought id clear that up lol
That kind of stuff wouldn’t happen in Prince Rupert. No way the government would pay a guy from Terrace to drive all the way here, replace an existing router with a new one, and then drive home. 
I live in the Fort, we don’t even have a Tim’s.
Whoever opens one, we will come.
Crazy Mike, how about someone coming from Winnipeg to install a router and then have City West help hook it up?
