Salmon on the run

The debate over the hazards of fish farming will heat up again, with details out of Campbell River of a massive fish farm escape, 30,000 farmed Atlantic salmon escaped yesterday from the Marine Harvest pens in Frederick Arm.

The CBC reports that the fish made the break for the waters of coastal BC when a corner of the pen holding them collapsed, letting the 30,000 free to swim, at least until local anglers in the Campbell River suddently found a bounty at the end of their lines…
